Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Engram will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Montezuma, Georgia. 

Mrs. Inez Engram, daughter of the late Ms. Obie Haugabook and the late Mr. King Scott, Sr. was born August 2, 1937 in Montezuma, Georgia. She was educated in the public school system of Macon County. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. John Wesley Engram, better known as “Jay Bird” and to this union six children were born. In order to better provide for the family, they relocated to Detroit, Michigan. In 1974, the family returned to Montezuma, Georgia. Mrs. Engram was a devoted mother and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She peacefully departed this life on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. She was preceded in death by one son, Tyrone Lamar Engram, Sr. 

She is survived by her children: Morris James Engram of Detroit, Michigan, Earnestine Engram, John Wesley Engram, Jr. and Edward Andrew Engram of Hartford, Connecticut, and Janice Joyce Engram of Montezuma, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Connie Sutton of Smithville, Georgia were held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Green Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Norbert Ingram officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Mr. Connie W. Sutton was born on May 27, 1952 to the late Shade Sutton Sr. and the late Ruthie B. Sutton.  At an early age he joined the Green Grove Baptist Church.  He worked for the City of Smithville and retired in 2012. Connie departed this life on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. 

He leaves to mourn his passing a devoted fiancée, Ms. Eva Saffi of Smithville, GA; two sons: Marcus Sutton and Curtis Saffi, both of Smithville, GA; one daughter, Yolanda Coley (Derick) of Miami, FL; one brother, Shade Sutton, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; three sisters: Beverly Dismuke, Priscilla Davis (Amos King) of Smithville, GA, and Deborah Burton(Charles) of Atlanta, GA; two sisters-in-law: Mamie Saffi of Americus, GA and Alma Yang of Smithville, GA; two brothers-in-law: Freddy Smith of Smithville, GA, and Jessie Smith of Americus, GA;  two grandchildren: Kadarius Davis and Kebony Banks both of Americus, GA; one aunt, Carrie Jackson and one uncle, Oliver Dismuke, both of Miami, FL. an adopted sister, Donna French, and two adopted brothers: Andrew and Anderson Bush; an adopted niece, Tara Acres (Patrick), Leesburg, GA; two devoted friends, Greg Jones, and Jerry Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish his memories

Funeral services for Mr. Lewis McDonald, Jr. “Killer P” will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Scotts Mater CME Church with Elder James H. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at the Antioch Cemetery. Mr. McDonald died on Monday, September 2, 2013. 

 

Lewis McDonald Jr. was born on August 17, 1950 in Americus GA. to Lewis McDonald Sr. and the late Louise V. McDonald. At an early age he accepted Christ and joined Union Whitely Baptist Church. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County and later got his Degree from Job Core.  He was employed by Magnolia Manor as a Floor Technician.  Lewis, affectionately known as “Killer P”, was a joy to his family and all who knew him.  He was known for his kind heart and great sense of humor.  
 

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 23 years, Mrs. Cynthia L. Jackson McDonald; five children: Norma Jackson of Newark, N. J, Emma Jackson (Robert Brooks), Walter (Pamela) Jackson Jr. of Atlanta GA, Michelle Jackson, (Shawn Van Over), C’Mone Champion (Kansas Tyson) of Americus, GA; four grandchildren: Beyunkia Jackson (Horatio Clemons), Corey Jackson, Tyrus Jackson and Robyn Brooks; five great grandchildren: including one devoted great granddaughter, Beyonce Jackson (La La), one step father, William Jernigan; two brothers: Karl McDonald and Tony Sumlin both of Americus, GA; three sisters: Annette Foster (Walter Young), Edith McDonald (Willie C. Young) and Yvonne McDonald (Sammie Parker); ten nephews, twelve nieces, including two devoted nieces: Shawn McDonald and Alexis Harris; one devoted cousin, Cleveland Porter all of Americus, GA; father-in-law, Allen Greene Jr. and mother-in-law, Salemia Greene affectionately called by Lewis “Lamb Chop”; brother & sister-in-law, Marie (Tony) Foreman; Amos Greene, Bertha Greene, Betty Greene (Charley Harvey), Alice Greene and Annette Greene; aunt Geneva Young and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. James Lee White will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:00 in the Chapel of West’s Mortuary with Rev. George Frank Monts officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.

 

 

Mr. James Lee White was born on September 7, 1950 to the late Samuel Lee White and the late Christine Fudge White. He attended the public school system in Sumter County. At an early age he joined Antioch Baptist Church. He was united in holy matrimony to Ola Mae White. He was preceded in death by one unborn child and three brothers, Albert, Jean and Louis White. Mr. White was employed for many years as a farmer. Two of his favorite pastimes were going fishing and listening to music.

 

 

He leaves to mourn his passing one sister who was also his caregiver, Ms. Mary Lou Mency of Plains, GA; one brother, Sammie Lee (Brenda) White of Americus, GA; one aunt, Ruth Mae Dowdell and friend Earnest Mathis of Americus, GA; twelve nieces: Maxine (McArthur) Jackson, Melissa Mency, Carolyn White and friend Curtis Burton, and Geraldine Ware of Plains, GA, Michelle (James) Davis, Joyce White, Janice Davis, Laura White, Cassandra (Bernard) Monts, Geneva (Claude) Waters and Christina (Eddie) Waters of Americus, GA; one nephew, James Earl White and friend Latoya Lucas of Athens, GA; two sisters-in-law: Lee Anna White and Mildred Styles; one brother-in-Law, Fred Mackey of Americus, GA. A host of great nieces and nephews including his devoted caregivers Monica Mency and Moennaishyia Jackson; two devoted friends and neighbors, Autry Mae Sims and Nelson Sims of Plains GA. Miss Caylee Jade Johnson came into this world on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 6:33 p.m. A beautiful baby girl, Caylee Jade was born at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA to Mr. Dontavious Jarrell Johnson and Ms. Curlecia Delores Schley. Too precious to live in this world, God gave us a glimpse of Caylee Jade before he sent his angel to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents: Curles Schley and Delores Ross.

Funeral Services for Mr. William Holmes, better known as “Flappy” will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 1:00 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dooling, GA with Pastor Jerry J. Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Mr. Holmes passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Pinehill Nursing Center in Byromville, Georgia.

 

Flappy grew up in Dooly County and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He worked for over twenty years as a forklift operator at Georgia Pacific until his retirement.

 

His memories will forever be cherished by his wife of 51 years, Annie Pearl Holmes of Byromville, Georgia; brothers and sisters: Raphael Holmes of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Hattie Mae Holmes of Byromville, Georgia, Willie Oscar Holmes (Betty) of Montezuma, Georgia, Oscar Holmes of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Sidney Holmes (Mary) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Eloise Moore of Montezuma, Georgia; his aunt, Susie Mae Walker of Orlando, Florida; his uncle, Edward B. Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Hankerson of Drayton Street Montezuma will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 at the Magnolia Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia with Rev. Hosie Waters officiating. Burial will follow at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery.

Mrs. Mildred L. Hankerson, daughter of the late John L. Leggett and Kate Williams Neal, was born September 30, 1930 in Dooling, Georgia. She was educated in the Dooly County School System. Mildred was united in Holy matrimony to William Hankerson who preceded her in death. She was employed at Southern Frozen Foods for many years before her retirement.

Mrs. Hankerson was a faithful member of Magnolia Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous spirit and her willingness to help others. She was “an angel” in helping many people during her lifetime. On Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Flint River Hospital, Montezuma, Georgia, God called her from labor to reward. She was preceded in death by one brother, Alford Leggett.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her sisters: Emma Bland of Jacksonville, Florida and Geraldine Moss of St. Petersburg, Florida; two brothers: Bobby Leggett and Robert Leggett of St. Petersburg, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Frank and Francis Martin of Miami, Florida, Fannie Bell Hankerson of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Louise Hankerson of Ft. Funeral services for Ms. Bonnie Dean Floyd of Dawson, Georgia will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11 a.m.  at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at 411 Cotton Ave. Americus, GA 31709. Ms. Floyd died on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Dawson Manor in Dawson, GA.

Bonnie Dean Floyd was born on August 25, 1946 to the late Mr. Albert and Almeter Floyd. She was a 1965 graduate of Sumter County Public School System. She was preceded in death by her son the late Juan “Jan” Boone, Sr. and three siblings: Winfred Floyd, Sr., Gloria “Pat” Hudson and Richard R.J. Denson, Sr.

Left to cherish her memories is a devoted niece Tracy B. Funeral services for Mr. Eugene McCrory were held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Pine Level Baptist Church in Junction City, Georgia with Elder David Towns officiating. Burial followed at the First Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Eugene McCrory, Jr. was born on May 24, 1971 in Reynolds, Georgia to the late Eugene McCrory, Sr. and the late Abbie Pearl “Hanna” Leonard McCrory. He grew up in Junction City, Georgia and attended the public schools of Talbot County, where he graduated from the Talbotton High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country faithfully. While in the Army Eugene met and married Ann Duncan. After leaving the Army, he continued to work for the government by being employed by the United States Veterans’ Affairs as maintenance personnel.


 

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Eugene McCrory, III and Kristen McCrory both of Washington, DC and Chandler Remble of Fort Worth, Texas who he reared as his own; two loving brothers: Christopher McCrory and Bernard McCrory both of Junction City, Georgia

Burial will follow at Staley Memorial Gardens. Mr. Williams died on Sunday, July 21, 2013. 

 

Mr. Johnny Williams made his entrance into life on September 30, 1947 in Webster County (Weston, Georgia). He was the first child born to his proud parents Mr. Robert Pete Williams, Sr. and Mrs. Evia Lee Dunning Williams. Johnny was educated in the Webster and Sumter County Public Schools.  At an early age he joined the Shipp Chapel Baptist Church, Americus Georgia.  Johnny departed this life on He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother Mr. Robert Pete (Julia) Williams, Jr.
