Graveside Services for Mr. Joseph T. Hooks, Sr. 63, of Columbus, Georgia will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Lebanon Cemetery in Plains, Georgia with Pastor Steven Anderson of 4th United Holiness of Ellaville, Ga. Officiating.
Mr. Joseph T. Hooks Sr., son of the late Helen Louise Johnson Hooks and Jimmie Lee Hooks Sr., was born February 15, 1950 in Plains, Georgia. Mr. Joe Hooks, as he was affectionately known worked for Columbus Consolidated Government and Columbus Parks and Recreation for over 19 years. He entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 8, 2013, at The Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his daughter Leeshonda Hooks, a son Sammy Hardrick, a daughter-in-law Martha Hooks, three sisters: Minnie P. Hooks, Edna D. Hooks, and Shirley Hooks Jernigan, a brother James Hooks and one aunt Annie Ruth Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted friend Ms. Laura Henderson; seven daughters: Mrs. Valisa (Elder Derick) Mercer, Ms. Vickie Hooks and friend Antwan Thomas of Americus, GA, Mrs. Ullianee Hooks Foster and friend Joseph Chambers, Ms. Gaynell Hooks of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Vanessa (EJ.) Thomas of Rawlings, NC, Ms. Tayah Hooks and Mrs. Beverly (Patrick) Williams of Columbus, GA; Four Sons: Joseph Hooks, Jr. of Plains, GA, Reginald B. Hooks and friend Ms. Bernice Mays of Panama City, Fl., Anthony B. (Kim) Hardrick, and Steven l. Hardrick of Columbus, Georgia.; and a Brother Jimmie (Mildred) Hooks Sr. of Columbus, GA; four aunts: Ms. Bertha Paul of Americus, GA, Ms. Alice (Tab) Colwell of Newark, NJ, Ms. Naomi Mansfield of St. Petersburg, FL and Annie Mae Wise of Americus, GA; two uncles: Sammy Johnson of Eatonton, GA and Allen Johnson of Newark, NJ; twenty two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive
