Mr. Freddie Jernigan age 67 of Masonic Street Americus, GA died on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Big Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Linda Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery. 

Mr. Freddie Lee Jernigan was born on Dec. 25,1944 in Americus Georgia. He was one of eight children born to the late William and Lizzie Mae Jernigan. He grew up in Americus and received his early education at McCoy Hill School.

 

Freddie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ruby Denmark Jernigan and this union was blessed with two daughters and two sons.  He was preceded in death by five sisters: Gloria Jernigan, Helen Moses, Bobbie R. Gatewood, Mary Hicks and Pauline Cobb. One sister-in-law Joana Carter also preceded him in death.

                                                                                                                                                                                

Freddie retired from the City of Americus in February 2007 after many years of dedicated service in the Public Works Department. He was a dedicated member of The Power of Faith Deliverance Church where he worshiped faithfully until his health declined.

 

Freddie was a fun loving and caring family man and especially a proud Grandfather that will truly be missed. He leaves to cherish his memories two daughter; Helen Jernigan, Christy Jernigan; two sons: Johnnie Robinson III and Victor Robinson all of Americus Georgia; 13 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lucy M. Bryant of Americus Georgia; one brother, Mr. William Jernigan of Americus, Georgia;   six sisters-in-law: Mary Jo Denmark, Elsie Denmark, Dora Denmark, Mary Pearl Denmark all of Americus, Georgia and Minnie Pearl (Douglas) Campbell of Albany Georgia;  three brothers-in-law: Robert Myrick, Charlie Denmark and James A Denmark all of Americus Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends also survive including Mr. Derrick Wafford.

Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Lee Waters age 43 of Furlow Street Americus, Georgia will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. H.C. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.

 

Arthur Lee Waters was born on July, 24, 1969 in Sumter County, Georgia to Mrs. Lula Mae Ross Waters and Mr. Carl Waters.

 

He was baptized on October 14, 1983 by his beloved Pastor, Rev. H. C. Wilson. He was a proud graduate of The Class of 1987 at Americus High School He was a faithful student at Southern Star DDC. After school you could find Arthur Lee at the Rucker Street Park listening to his music. He loved people and he loved his music. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ms. Mary Lou Ross, Mr. Arthur Waters, and Mrs. Rosie Lee Waters. Arthur Lee died peacefully on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home.

 

His smile will forever be etched into the hearts of his devoted mother, Mrs. Lula Mae Waters; his father, Carl Waters; his aunts: Varness Sutton, Ethel Scott, Mary Harvey, Barbara Ross, Frances (James) McGrady, Doris Isaac, Vivian Waters, and Mattie Waters; his uncles: Horace (Mary) Waters, Moses (Alma) Ross, and Otha Waters; his devoted care giver, Annie Ruth Muff; his devoted friends: James “Chainsaw” Muff, Joann Green and Charlie Morgan; several devoted cousins, his Rucker Street Park family and friends.

Mr. Samuel J. Johnson

Funeral services for Mr. Samuel Jerome Johnson age 62 of Decatur, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shade Arnold Baptist Church with Elder David Towns officiating. Burial will follow at the Andersonville National Cemetery.

Samuel J. Johnson was born Monday, August 17, 1950 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Herbert Johnson and Charlie Mae Thornton Cameron.  At an early age he joined the church.  He was a Veteran in the United States Army and served 31 years as a civil servant with GSA and retired on Monday April 30, 2001. After he retired he sought employment with Avis Car Rental.  Mr.
Johnson was pronounced dead on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 12:45 a.m.  He was preceded in death by his sister Jennifer Thornton.

His legacy will continue through his daughter; Shermeka J. Johnson (Tavares Robinson); a granddaughter, V’Nylla S. Johnson; three grandsons: Jyqaz D. Dorsey, Zacceheus L. Johnson and Malychai J. Johnson; David A. Walker’s children; Xavier  M. Walker and D’Gayla M. Rosser Walker; daughter; Dana A,  Mahaffey (David): grandchildren: Justin A Roscoe, Brittany N. Roscoe, David T. A. W. Roscoe, and Dyanna D. Mahaffey; three great grandchildren; a brother, Kelvin Cameron (Maria); Aunts: Bertha Plant, Agness Smith (James). Rose Thornton, Ann Plant (Hillard).  Helen Jordan and Louise Ashman and an Uncle Reverend Jeremiah (Teresa) Thornton; a very special loving ex wife and friend D. M. Newton Lett Kittrell (Herald) and a host of cousins, classmates and friends.
