Funeral services for Ms. Beulah Harris age 90 of Americus, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of West’s Mortuary. Ms. Harris died on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Ms. Mazuria Harris of Americus, Georgia; several nieces and nephews including: Essie Harris of Americus, Georgia, Doris Harris of Atlanta, Georgia Linda Harris, Vera, Minnie Price, Errol & Silvia Fredrick, Michael Harris, Allison & Brenda Harris, H.T. William Spears of Albany, Georgia and Brenda Harris of Atlanta, Georgia; several great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends

Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Wynn Loftly will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Montezuma with interment in the church cemetery.

Effie Wynn Loftly was born on August 12, 1916 to Cora Dean Wynn and Archie Wynn. She was raised in Montezuma, Georgia where she lived until moving to Conyers, Georgia around 2013. Effie passed peacefully with family on July 27, 2016, just two weeks shy of her 100^th birthday celebration.

Effie was one of twelve siblings; ten preceded her in death with one surviving sister, Willie Lou Haugabook. In the fall of 1938, Effie married Boisy Loftly, and from this union they had five children: Willie James (Joyce Loftly), Jerome (preceded in death), Paul (Sandra Loftly), Virginia and Dorothy Loftly.

From the blessing of these five children would come eleven grandchildren: Ronnie (Deborah Loftly), Karen, Regina (Andre Johnson), Sandra (Tyrone Nelson), Ken, Porsha, Mike (preceded in death), Shari, Paul Taylor, Tawanda, and Tammi. Next would come the abundance of thirteen great grandchildren: Kiara, Ryan, Sgt Bernard Vinson Jr. (Carrie Vinson), Tia, Kendall, Ari, Ashton, Destiny, Terrance, Dylan, Sametria, Samuel, and Jeonee. Effie also had three great-great grand children. She will be remembered by a host of close relatives, friends and church members.

During her lifetime, she partnered as a farmer along with her husband Boisy. A hard working woman, she also worked for the Southern Frozen Foods Plant and the Flint River Community. She was an avid member of Future Homemakers of America, which was an organization that taught women to sew, cook, quilt and established other skills she used to raise the Loftly family.

She was a devoted and valuable member of New Hope Baptist Church of Montezuma for over 40 years, and she had the honor of serving on the missionary board, amongst other roles and responsibilities she held, during this time.

Effie loved to cook and sew. She mastered both sets of skills, among many, and you would know it if you ever had the pleasure to taste her pound cake or biscuits. Most of all, she loved her family, and she believed in taking good care of them. Above anything else in this world, she loved the Lord.

She was independent, nurturing, hardworking, and straight forward with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by many and forgotten by none.

A Memorial service for Mr. Kevin Lloyd, age 50, of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the A.M. Fields Center in Montezuma, Georgia. Kevin Lloyd was born on February 9, 1966 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Shirley Lloyd and the late Ted Green. He was the grandson of the late Bessie Mallard and the late Laura Walker. Kevin grew up in Montezuma and attended the public schools of Macon County. He was a 1986 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia.

Mr. Lloyd worked for ten years with Lewis Textile in Atlanta, Georgia before moving back home to Montezuma in 2001. He was employed at Perdue in Perry, Georgia until health forced him to leave in 2007. Kevin passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

He leaves behind his wife, Wyvette Simpson-Lloyd of eighteen years; eight children: Brittney Johnson of Columbus, GA, Thamir Simpson of Warner Robins, GA, Daveyiale Howard of Indiana, Kevin Lloyd, Jr., Kelvin Lloyd and Rochelle McCoy of Atlanta, GA, Tevin Lloyd and Tekal Lloyd of Montezuma, GA; grandchildren: Markel Simpson, Zariya Lloyd, Christian Ellison, Madison Lloyd and Alijah Howard; three brothers: Ronnie Lloyd of Atlanta, GA, William (Lisa) Lloyd of Indianapolis, IN, and Jeffery Smith of Montezuma, GA; one sister, Cheryl (Jakie) Hayward of Brooklyn, NY; aunts: Eliza (Thomas) Sanders, Elsie Allen, Connie Walker, Betty Solomon, Betty Collier and Greta Greene; great aunt, Dorothy Beal; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Darrin (Vivian) Simpson, Ronald (Kesha) Simpson, Terence Simpson, John Walker, Willie Quinn, Archie Simpson, Richard Simpson, Veronica (Clifton) Holston, Chevette Walker, Carolyn Griggs, Carol Walker and Sharon (Jim) Gary; his niece, Dinisha; his nephews: William and Warren; devoted friends: Keith Everette, Timothy Kaigler, Johnny Kaigler, Harry Wilson, Andy Thompson, Jackie Barrett, Anthony Thompson and Carlos Givens; a host of other loving relatives and friends. 

John peacefully passed away on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Elberta Health Care Center in Warner Robins, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ulysses Stanton and his sister-in-law, Mattie Lou Stanton.

His memory will forever be cherished by: his wife, Brenda Stanton, Montezuma, Georgia; his children: Keith Stanton, Atlanta, Georgia Crystal Stanton (Willie), Montezuma, Georgia, Valeria Stanton Williams (Rodney) and Wanda Stanton Person (Karl), both of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren; his brothers, Willis Stanton (Susie), Decatur, Georgia; David Stanton (Emma), Sparta, Georgia; Alvin Stone, Fort Valley, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Mary Harp, Oglethorpe, Georgia; his devoted sister-in-law, Tammy Williams, Montezuma, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Gregory Williams, Oglethorpe, Georgia; his god-daughter, Jakera Felton; his uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.

Ms. Lena Mae Josey of Brookdale Dr. Americus, GA died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, GA.

Ms. Lena Mae Josey was born on March 3, 1935 in Americus, Georgia to the late Fannie Mae Josey and the late Eddie Lee Josey. At an early age she joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she remained a member until her health failed. She was the first African American to work as a cashier at Winn Dixie in Americus and she was also employed at Elmore's Dept. Store and Byrun Laundry & Cleaners.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children: Amy Josey (Eddie) Edge of Albany, GA, Lenora (Eddie) Tatum of Oakland, CA, Jessie (Gwendolyn) Josey and Alvin (Shirlene) Josey both of Americus, GA; three sisters: Ms. Lorena Josey, Mrs. Mary Russell and Mrs. Carman (William) Clark all of Americus, GA; two brothers: Jimmy (Doris) Josey and James (Mary) Josey both of Americus, GA. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Samuel Smith, Sr. of Americus, Georgia died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2:30 at the Friendship Baptist Church on Cotton Ave in Americus, Georgia where Bishop Melvin McCluster is the Pastor. Rev. George Edge of Restoration Church of Americus will officiate. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.

Samuel Smith, Sr. was born in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia on October 3, 1956 to the late Jessie L. Smith, Sr. and the late Geneva Childs Smith. He was educated in the Sumter County School System and was a 1975 graduate of Plains High School. Sam loved to play the rhythm guitar. He was a member of the band “Little Mickey and the Sticks of Dynamite” and the quartet group “Echoes of Heaven.” 

At an early age, Sam accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Americus, GA. Eight years ago he joined the fellowship of Restoration Church of Americus under the leadership of Pastor George Edge. He was a faithful member until his health and the health of his mother begin to fail. 

Sam was employed with Excel, Davidson Rubber Company and Hickory Springs. He was a truck driver and was also employed at Eaton formerly known as Cooper Lighting.

He leaves to cherish his memories one son Samuel Smith, Jr. and two girls that he loved and cherished as his daughters Ekeathia Roberts and Sarah Smith all of Americus, GA; four siblings Jessie L. (Willette) Smith, Jr., Joseph Smith, Sr., Willie Frank (Leisha) Smith, Sr. and John E. Smith, Sr. all of Americus, GA; aunts and uncles: Mrs. Edna (Jessie) Hayes, Ms. Catherine Hill, all of Atlanta, GA, Mrs. Irene (Willie) Reddick of Blakely, GA, Ms. Annie Ruth Davis of Americus, GA, Ms. Georgia Child of New Brighton, PA, Mr. Charlie Hill, Mr. Alphonza Hill of Andersonville, GA, Mr. Bernard Hill and Mr. Jimmy Little of Americus, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Johnny B. Kaigler, Jr., better known as “Buddy” or “Grill Master”, of Montezuma, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 at New Hope Baptist Church in Montezuma with Reverend Coley Clark, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Buddy passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center, Montezuma, Georgia.

Johnny B. Kaigler, Jr. was born June 18, 1947 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Lottie Colbert Kaigler and the late Johnny B. Kaigler, Sr. He was united in holy matrimony to the late Edith Brock Kaigler and they were blessed with one loving son, Darrell Kaigler. He became a father figure for Jeffery and Edward Chavis.  He later married the former Mary Harris Kaigler and was a father figure for Curtis Hill, Anthony Harris, Brian Harris and Kevin Harris.

Buddy was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church and worked at Southern Frozen Foods for many years. Later he was employed at McKenzie Memorial Golf Club for a number of years until his health failed. He was preceded in death by five siblings: Michael Kaigler, Ola Mae Haslem, Mary Ola Bound, Beverly McGhee and Willie Mae Ball.

Left to cherish his memory are: his son, Darrell Kaigler (Dianna) of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jordan Kaigler, Jacorey Chambers, Jaylen Kaigler all of Charlotte, North Carolina and Shanice Cunningham of Weiden Germany; a great granddaughter, Skylar Chambers of Charlotte, North Carolina; He is also survived by: Jeffrey Chavis of Montezuma, Georgia, Edward Chavis of Angier, North Carolina, Curtis Hill of Jesup, Georgia, Anthony Harris of Ann Arbor Michigan, Brian Harris and Kevin Harris of Montezuma, Georgia for whom he served as a father figure; four sisters, Carrie McGhee and Bettye Jo McKenzie of Montezuma, Georgia; Annette Cotton of Locust Grove, Georgia; Louise Gardner of Miami, Florida; one brother, Willie Brown (Camille) of Locust Grove, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Delphine Kaigler of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Martha Crews of Huntsville, Alabama, Peggy Johnson of Chesapeake, Virginia, Otis J. Brock (Annette) of Savannah, Georgia and Mary Louise Waters (Rev. Funeral Services for Mrs. Becky Mae Cochran will be held Monday, July 25, 2016 at 1:00 at First United Holiness Church, 324 Engram Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Burial will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery.

A time to be Born: Becky Mae Odom Cochran was born May 30, 1932 to the late Tom Odom and Georgia Bell Harris in Montezuma, Georgia.

A time for Service: Becky accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and joined the band of Christian believers at the Church of God by Faith.

A time for Learning: Educated in the public school system of Macon County, Becky attended the historic Flint River Farm School in Montezuma, Georgia.

A time for Love:  On December 15, 1951 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Frobell Cochran Sr., and to this union they were blessed with fourteen children.

A time for Labor:  After many years of dedicated service, Becky retired from Southern Frozen Foods. She was very talented; she loved reading the bible and teaching God’s word to whomever would listen. She also enjoyed cooking, writing poems, and singing.

A time to Rest: On Thursday, July 21, 2016, God lifted her from all her ailments, pains, and sorrows and granted her eternal rest.

Funeral services for Chanel Siyea Rickella King will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Lebanon Baptist Church in Plains, GA with Rev. Glen Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at the Lebanon Cemetery.

On June 6, 2010, I was blessed to begin my journey with my mom, Kietra Camillan King and my dad, RoShon Jerome Brown. They named me Chanel Siyea Rickella King—‘The Chosen One’.

On January 9, 2011, I was given back to God in a dedication ceremony.

The summer of 2013 was when I found out that ants were not my friend! 

On January 31, 2015, at 12:01 a.m., in an automobile accident, I was put through a test for two months of my life. God showed all of us that He was a miracle worker. 

On May 18, 2016, I graduated from the Sumter County Early Learning Center.

This summer, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Boys & Girls Club of Plains, GA.

On June 6, 2016, I turned 6 years old. I was so excited about my birthday, because I knew my mother had lots planned! My cousin, my friends and I had an awesome time waiting to see what was next on the list of things to do.

On July 1, 2016 we took a trip to Panama City Beach, FL. While our stay was short, I had the time of my life. In the pool that evening, I went toward the light because God was beckoning me to come with Him. He said, “Not yet” and He placed angels all around me, and allowed them to bring me back from ‘the light’. I experienced difficulties during this time. 

During the night of July 6, 2016 and midmorning hours of July 7, 2016 God told me, “I need you with me.” I was baptized by the Chaplain at Shands Hospital that evening. God said, “It’s time!” My final transition home was July 8, 2016 at 8:57a.m. I’m in the bosom of God now. I lived a full life in 6 years--more than any of you will live in a lifetime.
