Funeral services for Mr. Charles J. Dunn of Ashby Street Americus, GA

will be Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Power of Faith Deliverance Church on Ashby Street in Americus, Georgia with Prophetess Linda Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.

Mr. Charles Jerome Dunn was born on March 18, 1961 to Mr. Eddie Lee Dunn Jr. and Mrs. Brownie Davis Dunn. He received his education in the Sumter County school system. Mr. Charles Dunn was employed by Simplex Nails of Americus, Georgia for many years. He was preceded in death by his brother Mr. Willie Lee Dunn. On Tuesday, July 19, 2011 Mr. Charles Dunn departed his life at his residence.


He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted parents, Mrs. Brownie Dunn and Mr. Eddie Lee Dunn Jr. both of Americus GA; Four sisters: Rosa (MacArthur) Rutherford of Americus GA, Brownie Dudley of Waldorf, MD, Georgia Furlow of Americus, GA, and Naomi (Thomas) Tinnin of Atlanta, GA; two brothers: Sam (Regina) Dunn of Riverdale, GA, and Eddie (Kim) Dunn III of Americus, GA. Aunts include; Elizabeth Monts, Minister Linda Mathis, Rebecca Davis, Dora Bell (A. J.) Daniels, and Leanamae Coleman, all of Americus, Uncles include: O. Z. Coleman, Eugene Coleman, all of Americus, and Reverend Leroy (Ethal) Davis, Hartford, CT. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

Funeral service for Mr. Andrew Leverette of Americus, Georgia

will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of West's Mortuary in Americus, GA with Rev. Willie Greene officiating.
Mr. Andrew “Andre” Leverette was born in Americus, GA on January 12, 1966 to the parentage of the late Mrs. Florine Leverette Thomas, the late Richard Gaynor, and James Dodson. He received his education from Americus High. During that time, he was an outstanding all-star football player. He graduated in 1984. 


He is preceded in death by his mother, Florine Leverette Thomas, his father Richard Gaynor, his sister Latasha Thomas, his grandmother Willie Buckins, and his aunt Cathy Ann Buckins. Mr. Leverette died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.

He leaves to mourn his passing, three daughters: Coneisha Leverette, Camelia Leverette-Lewis (Derren), and Andrea Leverette all of Americus, GA; Two brothers: Darius Harris (Patricia) of Americus, GA and Robert Davis of Newman, GA. Six sisters: Renee Whitt (Will) of Seattle, WA, Tanya Jeffords (William) of North Augusta, SC, Shelly Fagan of Bessmer, AL, Yvette Long of Mendham, NJ, Elana Gatvan of Patterson, CA, and Kimberly Davis of San Jose, CA. Eleven uncles: Charles Gooden (Pharthenia), Danny Gooden (Carla), Arthur Gooden (Lou Emma), Jonathan Gooden all of Jacksonville, FL. Lee Warren Gooden (Mildred) of Americus, GA, Joe Grimsley of Columbia, AL, William Gaynor of Tampa, FL, James Gaynor (Edna) of Blakely, GA, and Richard D. Gaynor of Foley, AL, James S. Buckins, and Daniel Buckins (Selina) of Americus, GA; Three Aunts: Rudine Davenport (Willie) of Columbia, AL, Alma Gaynor and Gail Gaynor both of Tampa, FL. Four Grandchildren: Jordan Hamilton, Justin Leverette, Camryn Lewis, and Jadon Leverette all of Americus, GA. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives including a devoted friend, Rebecca Hooks.

Funeral services for Mr. John L. Mathis age 66 of Westside Dr. Americus, GA

will be held Saturday, July 16th at 11:00 A.M. at the Power of Faith Deliverance Church on Ashby Street in Americus with Prophetess Linda Mathis officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery. Mr. Mathis died on Sunday July 10th at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus.

 

Mr. John L. Mathis was born on September 1, 1944 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Sallie and C.P. Mathis. He was married to the late Gertrude Mathis. He was preceded in death by one brother Minister Ike Mathis. Mr. Mathis died on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. Left to cherish his memory are his four sons: Johnny Mathis, Jr. “G-Moe”, Reginald “Poochie” Mathis (Fenita Reddick), Joel Mathis and Dean Mathis all of Americus, Georgia; one sister, Cassie Weston of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Prophetess Linda Mathis of Americus, Georgia. A host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Willie Albert Fegans

was born June 2, 1957 to Mrs. Sally B. Hooks Kelly and the late Tarzie Fegans, Jr. in Montezuma, Georgia.

He attended the public schools of Macon County and graduated from D.F. Douglass High School. Albert accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and became a member of Union Baptist Church. On Saturday, July 9, 2011, our beloved bid this world farewell at the Montezuma Health Care Center. His memories will live on in his children, Gary English, Charlie Roberts (Tashika) of Atlanta, Georgia, Jermaine Smith and Deon Smith of Montezuma, Georgia, and Sheena Jones (Kini) of Vienna, Georgia; his mother, Sally B. Kelly of New Jersey; twelve grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Patricia Robinson (Patrick) of Chesterfield, New Jersey, Jackie Sparks (Elton) of Perry, Georgia, Evelyn Thomas of Albany, Georgia, Arthur Fegan of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Fogie Milton Fegan of Perry, Georgia, Billy Fegan and Eddie Fegan of Brooklyn, New York; Godmother, Grace McCaurin of Brooklyn, New York; devoted niece, Angela Mathis of Montezuma, Georgia; a host of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends; special friends: Hubert and Ernestine West, J.W. Quinn, Ophelia Waters, Marilyn Ford, and the Union Baptist Church family.

Funeral services for Ms. Mattie Mae Walters of Buttercup Lane Americus, GA

will be held Friday, July 8th at 11:00 AM at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow at Staley Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Mattie Mae Walters was born on May 1, 1932 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Dan and Gussie Walters and passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011 at her home in Americus, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her devoted daughter Emma Jean Lockett, her sister Hattie Mae (Roy) Foster and niece Veronica (John) Brown.

Sis Walters was an active member of the Allen Chapel AME Church where she served in many areas - Secretary of the L.J. Jones Usher Board, President of Stewardess Board #2, Secretary of Stewardess Board #3, and Correspondence Secretary of the Noisy B. Stephens Women’s Missionary Society. She was chosen Queen of the Eastern District WMS (Women’s Missionary Society, and was a member of the adult church school class.
Survivors include her son, Rev. Ted (Trudy) Walters of Vidalia, GA, brother, Dan Walters Jr. and sister Lizzie Maye of Americus, GA, grandchildren, Barry (Bridget) McGrady, Marietta, GA, Corey (Kelly Tyner) Lockett, Americus, GA, Trenton Walters, Vidalia, GA, Kima (Jermaine) Young, Savannah, GA, and Alicia Brantley, Vidalia, GA, great-grandchildren Brandi, Breah and Barry (B.J.) McGrady Jr, Marietta, GA, Saviyah Brantley, Vidalia, GA and Kimora Young, Savannah, GA devoted nephews, Roy “Butch” Foster Jr. (Tairetha), West Palm Beach, FL, Robert and Kelvin Maye as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
