The Graveside Service for Mr. Jessie B. Mathis, Jr. of Americus, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 1:30 at the Oakgrove Cemetery, with Rev. Freddie Mann officiating.

Mr. Jessie B. Mathis, Jr. was born on August 10, 1951 in Leslie, Georgia to the late Mr. Jessie B. Mathis, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ethel Lee Mathis. He attended Staley Junior High School where he was an avid football player. In his later years he moved to Atlanta, GA where he worked as a welder. He later moved to Brooklyn, NY and lived with his oldest brother, Mr. M.C. Mathis. In 1985 Jessie moved back home to Americus to be with his family. Sadly Jessie passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Lillian Carter Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, M.C. Mathis and a sister-in-law Omelia Mathis.

Jessie is survived by two sisters including a loving and devoted sister, Lois M. Battle (Clinton) of Americus, GA and Francis Morris of Leslie, GA; two brothers: Allen Mathis of Atlanta, GA and Willie Frank Mathis of Delray Beach, FL; a loving aunt, Ella Ruth McBeth of Miami, FL;  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Jeffie Lee Kendrick of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mountain Creek A.M.E. Cemetery.

Mr. Jeffie Lee Kendrick was born on April 1, 1928 to Ms. Annie Mae Daniels and Mr. Ned Kendrick in Montezuma, Georgia.  He went to be with the Lord at Magnolia Manor on Thursday, September 27, 2018 after a long illness. 

Mr. Kendrick worked for the City of Americus for three years performing many duties in and around Americus. He also worked as a carpenter and a truck driver to provide for his family. He was not just a builder of buildings and homes, he was a builder of people. Mr. Kendrick never made anything all about him, he was all about his family. He was an amazing man and father; a true blessing to those who knew him. He was a man who never let his family down no matter the situation. He gifted his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren with the spirit of strength, wisdom and perseverance. He gave his all, and he gave it all in good cheer. Our family was blessed to have him. Mr. Kendrick leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and courage.

Mr. Jeffie Lee Kendrick is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Mrs. Mildred Kendrick of Americus, Georgia; eight children: Mr. Rome Kendrick (Lillie) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Ms. Catherine Andrew of Binghamton, New York, Mrs. Margie Cunningham (Mark) of Pickerington, Ohio, Mrs. Patricia Cabbell (Frederick) of Chestnut Ridge, New York, Mr. Alonzo Kendrick of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Donald Kendrick of Redding, California, Mr. Rodney Kendrick (Niedy) of Americus, Georgia; one brother, David Daniels of Binghamton, New York. He also leaves to morn a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are a son, Jessie Lee Kendrick; a great great grandson, Lavonte Kendrick; four sisters: Hattie Mae McKenzie, Eva Mae Kendrick, Viola (Shane) Harris and Leatha Spivey, three brothers: Jeff Kendrick, Tobey Kendrick and Rome (Time) Kendrick.

He inspired many with the question....Is that the best you can do?

The Kendrick family would like to thank devoted family members, the staff at Phoebe Sumter Hospital and Magnolia Manor, Mrs. Mattie Waters, Ms. Rachel Waters, Mrs. Delores Terry, and the many friends and  neighbors in Sunset Park who showered him with the gift of time. who would stop by to chat with him and see how his day was going and/ or doing what you could to make him smile. He will be missed, and the life lessons he leaves behind will be cherished.

Mrs. Cassandra Biggins Robinson

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Cassandra Faye Biggins Robinson affectionately known as “Poohbaby” will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 2:00 at the Zion Hope Baptist Church with Rev. George F. Monts officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

Mrs. Cassandra Faye Biggins Robinson was born on February 19, 1976 in Americus, Georgia to Ms. Willie Mae Biggins and Mr. Howard McCray. She confessed to Christ at the Friendship Baptist Church in Desoto, Georgia. She later moved her membership to Zion Hope of Sumter City where she remained until her transition. She worked at the Sumter County Sheriff's Department and as a cashier at Flash Foods. On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, Cassandra peacefully passed away at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Shawn Eugene Robinson; her children: Myeshia Biggins, Rashawn Robinson, Reshawn Robinson and Shawn Robinson, Jr. of Americus, Georgia; her mother, Willie Mae Biggins and her father, Howard McCray; sisters: Bertha Biggins, Teresa McCray, Linda McCray, Desota, Georgia, Mattie Morgan, Albany, Georgia, Lillia Harper (Glenn) Americus, Georgia; brothers: Kenith Hall (Nettie), Bobby McCray, Americus, Georgia, Terrance Biggins, Desota, Georgia; slsters-in-lew Elizabeth Robinson, Americus, Georgia, Brenda Robinson, Warner Robins, Georgia, Valarie Carter, Jacksonville, Florida, Kenneth Carter (Valerie), Cordele, Georgia; a host of uncles and aunts from Cordele, Georgia including Ruby Caison, Alton Biggins, C. J. Brown, Patricia Biggins, Carne Holmes, John Holmes and Paula Biggins; her God Mother, Lavater Bass (Stanley) of Centerville, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, well-wishers and supporters; also two devoted friends: Dana Hawkins and Deterria Williams.
