The Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Shalandra Hooten of Fort Valley, Georgia will be held at noon on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Greater Faith Babies Ministries, 1000 Tulip Drive, Fort Valley, Georgia with Reverend George F. Monts officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Lake Memorial Gardens in Fort Valley, Georgia.

Public Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at West’s Mortuary, 325 Drayton Street, Montezuma, GA.

Shalandra Dashay Hooten, affectionately known as “Penny” or P-Dubb”, was born on April 1, 1980, in Perry, Georgia to Ms. Annie Hooten and Mr. Dennis Walters. She graduated from Macon County High School in the top 10% of her class. She was also Ms. Freshman and Ms. Sophomore. Penny furthered her education at The Fort Valley State University, and later received an associate degree in Medical Billing and Coding from DeVry University. She was co-owner of Angels On The Go.

Penny was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother, a devoted sister, aunt, friend, and family caretaker. She had a heart of gold and an infectious smile. Penny departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, her maternal, paternal, and bonus grandparents, and her bonus dad.

Penny will always be lovingly remembered by her son, Jaqwan Roberts (Tamara); her grandchildren: Alyssa Roberts and Kyson Roberts; her devoted mother, Annie Hooten (Corey); her brother, Derek James; her sisters: Azo’eria Slater and Amber Jackson; bonus siblings: Amia Towns, Joselyn Wade  James-Cooper (Travon), Noah James, and Corey Ogburn II; her fiancé, Angelo Allen; parents-in- love: Eva Allen and Alonzo Allen; nephews: Royal, De’Jon, and Darren; nieces: De’Kiyah, De’Lisia, Laylah, Imoni, Imari, and Iza; aunts: Mary Ann Hooten, Mary Edith Crocker, Tetse Cosby-Hooten, Rosa Butler, Peggy Walters, Barbara McKellar, Linda Walters, Cornella Livingston (Billy), Ella Sullins, Dawn James, Jeanette Harris, Josie Thomas, and Yvonne Bryant; uncles: Charlie Hooten (Miranda), Robert Hooten, Willie Hooten (Chemika), Charlie Walters (Sharon), Harvey Walters, and Terrence James (Charzetta); devoted cousins: Princeta (Bryan) and Jasmine (Kyle); her best friend, Tarsha Leary; devoted friends: Veronica, Melanie, Sherri, Shakeyle, Frederica, Charlzana, and the Allen family; other relatives and friends.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Cleveland Twiggs, Jr. affectionately known as “Clev” and “Junebug” will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Mr. Cleveland Twiggs, Jr. was born on January 3, 1968 in Plains, Georgia to the late Mrs. Mildred Twiggs and the late Cleveland Twiggs, Sr. “Junebug” as he was affectionaly known, graduated in 1986 from Sumter County Comprehensive High School. Throughout the years he has been employed by Manhattan Shirt Factory and TCI. “Junebug” died peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023 in Albany, Georgia.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted son, Jantwan Twiggs and friend Ja’Landrus of Albany, Georgia; his loving sister, Ms. Ethel Twiggs of Americus, Georgia; two brothers: Preston (Alvina) Davis of Americus, Georgia and Clifford (Candis) Twiggs of Richmond, Virginia; his nieces and nephews: Preston (Erika) Davis, Mildred Semohn (Kiara) Davis, Teshuna Twiggs, Ciano Perkins, Pierre Perkins, Davis Watford, Jared Twiggs, Jala Taylor and Perry Davis; his devoted friends:Charles Williams, Carlos Daniels and Joe (Nancy) Hill; he was also expecting his first grandchild in April of 2024. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Howard Daniels will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Mr. Howard Daniels was born on March 26, 1956. He passed away on October 21, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dorothy Stephens, Henry Stephens, and Homer Smothers; his son, Keith Daniels; and his daughter, Chandra Amy Daniels.

Howard is survived his step-mother, Bernice Smothers; two sons: Jason Daniels of Americus and Timothy Lawson of Land O Lakes, Florida; his granddaughters: Essence Durham, Kimberly Lawson, Jakayla Lawson and Ja'Lia Daniels; great-grandchildren: Kendall Davis, Kendric Davis and Joslyn Durham; three brothers: Ray Stephens, Herman Stephens, and Bernard Daniels all of Americus, three sisters: Lawanda Nelson, Erica Stephens, and Barbara Daniels all of Americus;  a devoted and faithful ex-wife, Ethel Longstreet Daniels; a step-sister, Lovie Williams; a niece, Teresa (Bernard) Fuller; a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

The Graveside Service for Mrs. Mollie Johnson of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at noon at St. Louis CME Church, 3829 Camp John Hope Road, Fort Valley, Georgia.

Mrs. Mollie Johnson, daughter of the late Nancella and A.C. Woolfork, was born on May 24, 1934. She was married to the late Mr. Johnny B. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson attended Flint River Farms School in Montezuma, Georgia. Later in life, she gained employment at Frozen Foods and Sewing Factories located in Montezuma and Unadilla, Georgia. Mrs. Johnson attended fellowship at The Kingdon Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She passed away on October 20, 2023, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny B. Johnson; and her brothers: A.C. Woolfork and Johnny Woolfork.

She leaves precious memories with her children: Gwendolyn Johnson and Wilfred Johnson of Montezuma, Georgia, Johnnie Johnson of Dublin, Georgia, and Lyndon (Valerie) Johnson of Centerville, Georgia; two sisters: Luevalia Dennis of Atlanta, Georgia and Inez Gilbert of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren: Marchello Johnson, Myron Johnson, Denzel Johnson, LaKia Johnson, Carlos Larry, and Lamar McNeil; her great-grandchildren: Bryston, Markel, Marchello Jr. and Karson; her sister-in-law, Minnie Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, James Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Mr. Ricky Robinson was born July 9, 1951, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Jerry Robinson and Annie Pearl Robinson. Ricky transitioned to eternal rest on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Piedmont Macon Medical Center. He was employed for many years as a laborer at Horton Homes in Eatonton, Georgia. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his wife, grandchildren, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Jevery Robinson, Tony Robinson, June Robinson, and Sylvia Stewart; in-laws: Dorothy Ingram, Emma Carter, Johnny Walker, and Frank Harvey. Mr. Robinson passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Piedmont Healthcare in Macon, Georgia. A date and time for his Memorial Service will be announced later.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Pearline Robinson; children: Brian Robinson, Ricky Robinson Jr., and Eric Walker; sisters: Sherry Johnson, Glenda Whitehead, and Patricia Johnson; grandchildren: E.J., Brianna, Christian, Nova, Damien, and Q.D.; in-laws: Florine Johnson, Beatrice Walker, Willie Walker Sr. (Marie Walker), and Rosa Mae Harvey; devoted friends: Dave and Lila Hill of Macon Georgia; his dog Rico; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Kenneth Stewart Jackson will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Mr. Kenneth Stewart Jackson was born in Sumter County, Georgia on March 10, 1958, to the parentage of the late Mr. Tommy Lee Jackson Sr. and the late Mrs. Mattie Mae Whitehead Jackson. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County. He was employed at Austin Urethane as a Machine Operator for many years until his health failed in May of 2022.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his sisters: Glenda (Dennis) Berryhill, Americus, GA, Dorothy Brown, Atlanta, GA, and Betty Walker, Atlanta, GA; his brothers: Larry (Judith) Jackson, Killeen, TX, Raymond Jackson, Randy Jackson, and Tommy (Mary) Jackson Jr. all of Americus, GA; 16 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including devoted friend Betty Austin also survive.

We will miss the spirit, smiles, and happiness he shared with his family and friends. Rest Kenneth and have a happy reunion with your mother, father, and loved ones in Heaven. Job Well Done!

 The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary Dean Smith of Americus, Georgia will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 132 Bumphead Road, Americus, Georgia with Pastor Jermaine Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia. Surrounded by the love of her family and dear friends, Mary Dean Smith, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 8, 2023. “Mae Dean” as she was affectionately called, was born on August 19,1941, in Schley County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie James Ingram, Sr, and the late Mrs. Mary Jo Hayes Ingram. She received her education in the Sumter County Public School System. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of Allen Chapel AME Church where she participated in various activities and ministries until her health declined.

On, July 24, 1960, she married the love of her life, Mr. Willie James Smith who remained her husband, the father of her children, her constant companion, and her best friend for their entire 59+ year marriage until his death on December 13, 2019.  Theirs was a true “Til death do us part!” union.

She was strong-willed and had an enormous heart. She was generous, loyal, and cared so deeply for the people around her.  Mae Dean will be remembered for all the love that she shared with her family and friends. She truly was the anchor of the family and the “glue” that held everyone together.  She loved HARD, and if you were fortunate enough to be on the receiving end of that love, she made sure that YOU KNEW THAT YOU WERE LOVED!

She was gainfully employed at and retired from Kinder Manufacturing after 30 years of service so that she could enjoy her “golden” years.  She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Mr. J.W. (Betty) Ingram, and Mr. Glover (Bernice) Ingram.

She leaves to mourn her passing six children: Ricky (Pamela) Ingram, James F. Smith, Deborah (Jerome) Clayton, Kirkland (Doris) Smith, Kenyatta Smith all of Americus Georgia, and Sandra (Clyde Jr) Lord of Atlanta, Georgia; four sisters: Gracie Smith, Virginia (James) Allen, Anna (James) Smith, all of Americus, and Mary Jane (Otis) McGruder of Miami, Florida; two brothers: Eddie Ingram and Charlie James (Cynthia) Ingram; fourteen grandchildren: Yameia (Jason) Jalisa, Deneen, Amanda (Jamar), Christopher, Khorderrius, Kirlandria, Clyde III, Gabrielle, Kendrica, Justus, Kennedy, Jyrese, and Talyor; six great- grandchildren: Jayla, Kayla, Cameron, Christian, Marcus Jr, and Ryleigh, a devoted aunt, Ms. Ella Payne; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in-law, and other family and friends.

Claude Jr. was merely lent to us until October 6, 2023, when the Lord called him home.  All who love him will truly miss him and will always carry him in our hearts. Claude Lee Forbes Jr., an avid Florida Gators fan was born the sixth of seven children on February 9, 1991, to the late Claude Lee Forbes, a Georgia Bulldogs fan and Linda Diane Willis-Forbes. He was reared in Montezuma, Georgia.  After graduating from Macon County High School in 2009, he worked for RCA Contracting.  It was during this time he took over the family business and became co-owner and operator of Forbes Trucking.  Now, he did go on to work for Blue Bird and Armstrong, but he knew that was truly not his calling.  He missed the smell of diesel, and the feel of riding in a large car.  At the time of his departure, he was working in the trucking industry as a truck driver.

On February 3, 2023, Claude married his best friend, Monterra Worsley, who remained by his side until his departure.  During their marriage they traveled, spent time with family and friends and reared their fur baby Ted together.

Claude is preceded in death by his father.  Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife, Monterra Worsley-Forbes; mother, Linda Willis Forbes; his siblings: Caleb (Ashley) Forbes, Calondra (Daryl) McDonald, Demetria Forbes, Shernann (D’Quinton) Worthy, Cherale (Ahmad) Willis Ford, and Marcus Joseph; grandmother, Betty Engram; father-in-law, William Worsley; grandfather-in-law, Franklin Brown; sister and brothers-in-law: Tevin Branch, Justin Miller, and Ashante’ Worsley; aunts and uncles: Charles Allen, Martha (John) Keller, Mary (James) Washington, Elsie Martin, Darrell Forbes, Gwen Forbes, Susan (Homer) Causey, Carolyn Forbes, Mary Harrison, Bernice Collier, Jennifer Engram, and Marrianne Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Lillian Marie Quinn was born in Montezuma, Georgia on July 14, 1964, to Eloise Clark and the late Fredrick Clark. She was a 1982 graduate of D. F. Douglass High School. Lillian was employed at Frito Lay for twenty-four years. She loved cooking, spending time with family, laughing, going out to eat, and smiling from ear to ear. She wasn’t a stranger to anyone she met.

On October 6, 2023, Quinn peacefully transitioned from this life on earth to eternal life. She leaves to treasure her loving memories, her children: Gabrielle Smith and Charlie Howard Smith II; a loving companion, Charlie Howard Smith Jr.; a loving mother, Eloise Clark; her faithful sister and brothers: Marilyn Rogers (Lonnie), Tony Quinn (Della), and Johnny F. Clark (Elizabeth); aunts and uncle: Lavern N. Taylor, Brenda Royal, and Reverend Curtis Bason (Beverly); one uncle, J.W. Harris preceded her in death; nephews and nieces: Johnny Lee Davis III (Latoya), Lequan Clark, Emmanuel Clark, Jonitisha Davis, and JaKayla Clark; great-niece and great-nephew: Dante’ Mallard and Kimora Taylor; everlasting friends: Angela Green, Lanesha Hodges, Tammie Beal, Jackie Sutton, Rachel Clark, Rosa Baldwin, and Marsha Sanders; devoted friends and family.
