The Funeral Service for Mr. Alexander “Jerod” Anthony will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the Old Corinth Baptist Church. We ask that you please wear a mask, for your safety and the safety of others. 

Alexander “Jerod” Anthony was born on April 20, 1984, in Atlanta, Georgia. Jerod was known to family and friends as an outgoing, bubbly, and energetic person. He had one of those heart melting, infectious smiles that could totally disarm you, even if you thought you were mad with him. He was very opinionated, but respectful to his elders and others. He had an enormous heart and did not hesitate to help others he encountered that he believed that he could help. Jerod accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2014 and shortly thereafter became an active member of the Masonic Order.

Jerod bonded with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins at an early age. Jerod was devoted to his family, including family related by blood and extended family that he met along the way in his life’s journey.  He touched the lives of so many with his desire to help others in need.  He was a fearless defender of family and friends.

Jerod was a graduate of Stone Mountain High School, class of 2002. After high school, he studied Computer Technology at Georgia State University and pursued Certification in Cosmetology from the Hair School. He finally settled on becoming a self-employed Master Barber, where he labored up until the Pandemic in 2020. He was also an avid music lover to the extent that he created a music studio in his basement where he would spend most of his waking hours when he was not in the barber shop.

Alexander Jerod Anthony passed away at the age of thirty-nine on Friday, September 29, 2023.  Jerod is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Henry Anthony, Sr. and Naomi Evans Anthony, his maternal grandmother Ozzie Mae Gaines Cooper, his favorite aunt Dorothy Anthony Jones, uncle Henry Anthony, Jr., and aunt Louise May Anthony.

Jerod is survived by his parents: Thomas and Christine Anthony; sister, Lakeitha (Bobby) Geiger; devoted friend, Tondalaya Brown; maternal grandfather, Willie Cooper, Sr.; great- aunt, Lula Harris; devoted aunts: Rosa (William) Malone, Charlene Anthony, Khadijah (Damian) Pitts, and Francis (Walter) Manners; devoted uncles: Eddie Anthony, Willie (Jolayne) Cooper, Jr., Larry Cooper, Gregory (Atonya) Cooper, and Craig Cooper; devoted cousins: Jamal, N’kema, Kim, Keyana, Toshiba, Kevin,  Earnest, Michael, Levar, Angela, Michelle, Veronica, Travis, Walter, Valerie, Derrick, Thonya, Daron, Mohammed, Abdul-Wali, Anwar, and Talaya; devoted extended family: Greg, Sharon, and Ashlee Ingram, Jerome Francis, Brenda Stith, and Keethe Moore; devoted lifelong friends: Antoine, Bradley, Dana, Dwight, Henri, Justin, Kulin, Pierre, and Ricky; many other family and friends too numerous to name.

Until we reunite with him on the other side, we will remember his spirited demeanor and the joy and laughter he brought to so many of us.

Mr. John Nicholas Banks of Americus, Georgia died on Friday, September 22, 2023, at his home. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Mr. John Nicholas Banks affectionately called “Nick” was born in Sumter County, Georgia on August 1, 1978, to the parentage of the late Ms. Diane Banks and Johnny C. Smith Jr. of Americus, Georgia. Nick attended the public schools of Sumter County. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of Campbell Chapel A.M.E Church. Nick loved spending time with his kids and his family, and really enjoyed cooking. He was a faithful employee at Zaxby's in Americus, Georgia. Nick was the life of the party and loved to joke and have fun wherever he went. He will be remembered as a great family man. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mrs. Ruby M. Banks and Johnny C. Smith Sr. of Americus, Georgia and his nephew Quantavius Robinson of Americus, Georgia.

He leaves to mourn his legacy, four sons: Jac’Quavius Banks of Reno Nevada, Jarvis Romine of Los Angeles California, Mason Romine of Americus, Georgia, and Xander Banks of Oregon; four sisters: Ms. Cotina Banks, Ms. Katrina (Walter) Bridges, Ms. Patricia Smith, and Ms. Barbara Smith all of Americus, Georgia; three brothers: Mr. John (Beverly) Smith and Mr. Mark (Bernadette) Smith of Americus, Georgia, and Mr. James (Joyce) Smith of Ellaville, Georgia; his godmother, Ms. Shirley Moye of Americus, Georgia; a devoted cousin who he was raised with Ms. Melissa Banks of Americus, Georgia; three devoted cousins: Travis Durham of Pennsylvania, Frederick Banks Sr. of New Orleans and Maurice Durham Jr. of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends including the Milliner Family (McCoy Hill), His Zaxby’s family, and his Dingus Magees family also survive.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Theodore Roosevelt Jackson, Jr. will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the Cool Springs Baptist Church in Buena Vista, Georgia with Rev. George F. Monts officiating.

Theodore Roosevelt Jackson Jr. was born on June 26, 1947, in Ellaville, Georgia to Theodore Roosevelt Jackson and Loise Dismuke.  As a teen he attended John Lewis High School until he started working at Hall Brothers on Cotton Avenue in Americus, Georgia. 

Around late 1967 early 1968 he came to Rochester, New York to live for a brief period.  He traveled several years from NY back to Florida and Georgia until he planted his roots in Rochester, NY for many years with Willie Lee Wilson. He worked various jobs. In 1979 he started working at Kurlash and in 1981 he left Rochester, NY and relocated with the company in Venice, Florida. Theodore enjoyed fishing, driving from state to state, and being there for his family. 

Theodore is predeceased by his sisters Loistine Mambie and Vera Mae Jackson, his brother Earnest Lee Bell, and his grandson Raeshawn Washington. 

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Jackson of Belle Glade, Florida; his sister-in-law, Lilly Mae Bell of Rochester, NY; two daughters: Lillie Ruth Jackson and Linda Ann Grimes of Rochester, NY; three sons: Matthew Jackson and Willie James Wilson of Rochester, NY and Steve Ford of Jesup, Georgia; ten granddaughters, five grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family and friends.

Henry James Stephens affectionately known as "Hen" of Americus, Georgia died at his home on September 18, 2023. The Celebration of Life Service for Henry James Stephens will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 190 Upper River Road, Americus, Georgia with Pastor Bryan Meyers officiating. The Funeral Service for Mr. Maraquivious De’Andre Hosley of Plains, Georgia will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at the Lebanon Baptist Church, Plains, Georgia with Bishop Arthur Fulton officiating.

Maraquivious De’Andre Hosley, known as “Cuervo”, was born October 29, 1993, to the parentage of Lamarcus Hosley and Biancia Bridges in Sumter County, Georgia. He was a 2012 graduate of Americus-Sumter High School. He joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Coley Clark. He worked at Macon State Prison for 6 ½ years as a correctional officer/sergeant. He enjoyed sitting around family and friends just enjoying life. He departed this life on September 9, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lora Ann Hosley; grandfather, Tommy Lee Bridges; great-grandparents: Governor Wilson, Sr., Lillie Mae Wilson, Walter Bridges, Sr., and Geneva Jackson Bridges; aunts: Antionette Bridges and Patricia Streeter; uncle, Timothy Mable, Sr.; and godson, Devonte Marquis Harper, Jr.
