Evelyn Davis Lester, affectionately known as ‘Honey,’ was born on March 10, 1943, in Americus, Georgia. Evelyn moved to New York at the tender age of 16 and lived in the Bronx until returning to Atlanta in 1977. She received her formal education in the Americus Public School System and completed advanced college education in New York City. Ms. Lester had an aptitude for numbers, earning her employment in the Wall Street financial district. She had the distinction of being one of the first Black women employed there in the 1970s. Her tenacious attitude, pervasive characteristics, and confident ambition resulted in a prestigious career with CITI CORP/ CITIBANK in central account management. There, she provided training and leadership to other colleagues, earning her numerous accolades, including several titles for Employee of the Month, the CitiPRIDE award, and 1983 Employee of the Year. She retired from CITI CORP after 25 years of dedicated service in 1993 and worked for several years at the distinguished law firm Macey, Wilenski, Cohen, Wittner, & Kessler.
