The Funeral Service for Mr. Curla Hannor, Sr. of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant / Travelers Rest CME Church, Norris Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in Champ Waters Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the safety of others.

Curla Hannor, Sr. was born November 11, 1956, to the late John Hannor and Mother Annie Mae Hannor. Born in a family of thirteen children, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Nancy Lee Hannor, Minister Lewis Hannor, Rosa Marie Hannor, Lunell Hannor McDonald, and Charles Maurice Hannor.

At an early age, Curla professed his faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of Mount Pleasant / Travelers Rest CME Church. He attended church regularly and served on the Usher’s Ministry. He was a 1975 graduate of the historic D.F. Douglass High School. From the age of 16, he was employed at Southern Frozen Foods, Inc. He remained there for over thirty years, until his health declined.

Curla married the late Teresa Brown Hannor in 1984. This union was blessed with three children. Curla was known for the way he got along with people. He made his family and friends laugh and smile. He had a way about him that drew people around. Everyone that knew him loved him.

Curla Hannor, Sr. departed this life on March 20, 2023 at his residence. He leaves a legacy of love and many fond memories to his family which includes three sons: Curla Hannor, Jr. (Constance) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Brandon Hannor (Robin Horne) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Gabriel Brown of Oglethorpe, Georgia; his grandchildren: Amaya, Anisha, Ayana, Jayden and Josiah; siblings: Mary K. Gray of Bronx, New York, John Hannor (Annie Bell) of East Point, Georgia, Mary L. Mathis of Niagara Falls, New York, James H. Hannor of Montezuma, Georgia, Voncile Adams of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Laura Hubbard (Anias) of Americus, Georgia, and Carolyn B. Hannor of Oglethorpe, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Reverend Bobby J. Brown (Flora), Reverend Ruben Brown (Dr. Crystal), Donald Brown, Rodney Brown, Treny Brown and Dorothy Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
