The Funeral Service for Larry J. Harden of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 8620 GA Hwy 26 E, Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor Allen Waters officiating. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others.

Larry James Harden was born May 12, 1950, to the late Charlie Harden and Anna Lee Harvey in Montezuma, Georgia. Larry received his elementary and middle school education from Flint River Farm School and his high school education from the historic D.F. Douglass High School where he excelled in both basketball and baseball.

After graduating high school, Larry was drafted into the military where he received an honorable discharge after serving four years. Two years of his assigned duties were in Germany.  After returning home from the Army, Larry was employed by Southern Frozen Foods where he remained until his retirement.

At an early age, Larry gave his life to Jesus Christ and joined New Hope Baptist Church.  As he grew up, he regularly attended Sunday school and church.  In his spare time, he loved fishing and rabbit hunting. He also had a special talent for making, fixing, and building things with his gifted hands and knowledge.

Although Larry was a giant in stature, he exhibited a calm demeanor throughout his life.  He wasn’t a man of many words, but he had a way of displaying his Christ like attitude toward others.  Larry was loved by everyone he knew and will be missed by many, especially family and friends in the Five Points Community.  His legacy will live on through his daughter, granddaughter, and future generations, by the grace of almighty God.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Rosa Allen of Montezuma, Georgia; one granddaughter, My’Daisha Ford of Montezuma, Georgia; his godson, Tekorien Thomas of Montezuma, Georgia; six brothers: Harry James Harden of Burford, Georgia, Charlie Spivey, Charlie Riley, Joseph (Felica) Harden, Kelvin Riley, and Charles Harden Jr., all of Macon, Georgia; four sisters, Audrey (Darryl) Harden-Curvin of Cibola, Texas, Glenda (Mackie) Harden-Patrick, Bonnie R. Harden, and Ella (Nigel) Harden-Ingram all of Macon, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
