The Graveside Service for Mrs. Annie Laura Brown Perkins of Atlanta, Georgia will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Noon at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia. Annie Laura Brown Perkins, affectionately called Trip by her siblings, but known to many as “Mrs. Perkins”, was born in Fort Valley, Georgia to the parentage of Mr. Andrew Brown and Mrs. Carolyn Brown. Laura attended the public schools of Fort Valley, Georgia and graduated from H.A. Hunt High School. She continued her education and earned a BA degree in History from Fort Valley State College. She later joined the staff of Macon County High School as a history teacher. After fifteen years of teaching, she retired and moved to Atlanta, becoming the CEO of Perkins Auto Recycling alongside her dedicated husband Claude Perkins.
On Monday, September 6, 2021 at the home of her daughter, God whispered, Laura my dear you have fought a magnificent fight, and your fight is over. Your destiny has now been fulfilled so come on home and rest. She peacefully succumbed to God’s Call.
Laura loved to cook and feed people. Just like her mother, Laura had superb culinary skills. She had many loves. She enjoyed music and believed life wasn’t satisfying without laughter. An avid reader, Laura was constantly teaching. She mentored and nurtured many teenage boys that came to call her “Momma Perkins”.
Laura was preceded in death by an infant son, Claude Jr, her parents, and three siblings, Andrew Jr, Etheridge, and Bobby. Laura leaves to cherish her life a loving and loyal husband Claude Perkins of Riverdale, Georgia; two devoted and loving children: Shontanette (Robert) Barber, Keefer (Miranda) Perkins both of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren: Miya Barber, Keefer Diaz Perkins, Nasir Barber and Kamyra Perkins; seven siblings: Eula Brown, Kay (Gerald) Nugent of Riverdale, New York, Essie Dennis, Beatrice Lester, Sylinda Dodson and Cornelius Brown of Fort Valley, Georgia and Willie Alma (Glenmore) Ragin of Lizella, Georgia; a host of other relatives and friends
