The Funeral Service for Deacon Clarence Wilbon, Sr. will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Old Shady Grove Baptist Church, Americus, Georgia. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery, Americus, Georgia.

Deacon Clarence Wilbon, Sr. was born in Schley County, Georgia on January 10, 1925, to the parentage of the late Mr. Clifford Wilbon, Sr. and the late Mrs. Bertha Black Wilbon.  He joined the Old Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until his health failed.

 On August 9, 1947 he married Bessie Mae Butler who preceded him in death.  Unto this union 5 children were born.

 After Deacon Wilbon’s health failed, he resided at the Magnolia Manor and would assist other residents by pushing those in wheelchairs who needed assistance or whatever he could do to help others.  Many who saw him thought he was an employee at the manor.  He loved to sing and would often join in singing with various church choirs that would go to the manor to sing for the residents.  He continued to do this until taking a fall a few years ago.    

He is preceded in death by four brothers, Fred Wilbon of Pahokee, FL, Leroy Wilbon of Riviera Beach, FL, Clyde Wilbon of Ideal, GA and Clifford Wilbon, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; one brother-in-law, Charles Butler and a sister-in-law, Edith (Ulysee) Harris. 

He leaves to mourn his passing two sons: Clarence Wilbon, Jr. of San Jose, California and Henry (Ozie) Wilbon of Americus, Georgia; three daughters: Barbara Wilbon of Americus, Georgia, Maxine (Chris) Sinnott of Smithville, Georgia and Jennifer Wilbon of Americus, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Kenny Wilkerson Jr., Carlos Wilbon, Shabrea Walton, and Je’Amber Burts all of Americus, GA, Jonah Wilbon of Atlanta, Georgia, D. Elaine Smith of Macon Georgia and Desiree Wilbon of San Jose, California; eight great grandchildren:  Traylen Wilkerson, Jaylen Mason, Janiece Lewis, Javeyon Burts, Ja’Miya Sadler, Jordan Smith, Ahmad Smith, and Serenity Jones;  four brothers-in-law: Thomas (Hattie) Butler, John Butler all of Americus Georgia, Pacie (Martha) Butler of New York, New York and Robert Butler of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters-in-law: Mattie (Champ) Everett of Yonkers, New York and Bertha M. Mann of New York, New York; a close cousin, Earnest L. (Willie) Seay of Americus, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
