He was a kind hearted person anything that he could do to help you he’d do it. He was a very knowledgeable person, knowing a little about everything. As a child he joined Scotts Mater C.M.E. Church but like most he strayed away from the church. But after some years of being away from us he made up his mind to make a change in his life, he came back to the church. Two brothers and an aunt preceded him in death, Charlie Hall, Robert Hall, Louise McDonald. On June 10, 2012, the day set aside for him to be absent with us but present with the Lord, Johnny quietly slipped away from us.

He will be missed by his mother Geneva Young; his fiance’ Joanne Dowdell; brothers: John (Lilly) Hall, Margate, FL, James Young, Jr., Americus, and Willie (Isabel) Lucas, San Jose, California; sister, Patricia Edden (Jerome Jackson), Americus; sister-in-law, Barbara J. Hall, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a half sister, Gloria Leverette, Americus; one aunt, Hazel Freddrick, Americus; a great uncle, Mr. George King, of Americus, whom he cherished very much; a great aunt, Mrs. Claudette Hatten, Vienna, Georgia. Buck was well known and well liked by all who knew him, but as life would have it, there were those few that he called “my good friends” Dennis and Tracy Carter: “my relatives that went above and beyond” Tara Leverettte and Rachel who came just so that her grandmother would not be alone as she waited for news of her youngest son’s fate. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive

He received his formal education through the New York City Public School System.  While still in his formative years, Aaron joined Trinity Baptist Church and embraced ideologies that influenced him into adulthood. During the Vietnam War, Aaron had a strong conviction to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  He later received an honorable discharge. After returning home, Aaron was still compelled to “protect and serve” and accepted a position as a Police Officer with the New York City Housing Police Department. While on duty, he met “Liz” and within four years, the two decided to pledge their love through marriage. After retirement, Aaron relocated the family to Atlanta, Georgia where they resided for several years until moving to Americus, Georgia in 2008.

Aaron, a go-getter, found himself bored with retirement and again sought out opportunities to ensure the safety of others.  He worked for the DeKalb County Correctional Facility and later the Sumter County Law Enforcement Center until the time came that he needed to focus on his own well-being and that of his family.

In 2010, Aaron was diagnosed with lung cancer.  His physicians predicted that he had three months to live.  They were wrong.  God granted Aaron two more years to live, love, and to be loved.  He also had the opportunity to restore his relationship with God.
