The Graveside Service for Mr. William Eugene Harris of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Staley Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue practicing social distancing for your safety and for the protection of others.

Mr. William Eugene Harris was born in Sumter County, Georgia, on March 16, 1938, to the parentage of the late Mr. Alfred “Perry” Harris and the late Mrs. Ruby Lee Wooden Harris. He was the fifth child born to this union.

William is preceded in death by five brothers, Mr. Oliver Harris, Mr. Alfred Harris, Jr., Mr. McKinley Harris, Mr. John E. Harris, Mr. Fred Harris, one sister, Mrs. Nancy Harris Hall, and four children: Thomas William Harris, Eugene Hodge, Priscilla Harvey, and Rick Daniel.

Being raised and nurtured in a Christian home, he attended Sunday school and church during his childhood years at Long Branch A.M.E. Church. He accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior and made Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church his church home.

His major employment was with Oxford Motor Company in Americus. After working for numerous years, he retired and helped on the Daniel Farm. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, William peacefully transitioned to his eternal home.

His legacy of love and care will forever be cherished by his loving wife of 53 years, Mrs. Mattie Sue Protho Harris of Americus, Georgia; his children, Mrs. Pamela Harris (Willie) Bryant of Americus, Georgia; Mrs. Jennie Harris (Edward) Greene, of Leslie, Georgia; Mr. Dwight (Sandra) Harris of Americus, Georgia; Mr. Robert Harvey, Jr., of Americus, Georgia; and Mr. William Eugene (Amelia) Harris of Lake City, Florida Mrs. Penny (Connie) Mallory of Albany, GA, and Mr. Kenneth Williams of Virginia; two brothers, Reverend Norris (Pam) Harris and Reverend Gerald (Martha) Harris, both of Americus, Georgia; five sisters, Ms. Fannie Harris Butler and Ms. Kathleen Harris Monts, both of Americus, Georgia, Mrs. Ruby (Clyde) Harris Maddox of Riverside, California, Ms. Janice Marie Harris and Reverend Sherryl Harris Sneed, both of Americus; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Whitehead Harris and Mrs. Annie Willis Harris, both of Americus, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Mr. John Hall, of Americus, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many other special friends.  Special thanks to his sister Janice Harris, Dr. Malcolm Floyd, Always Caring Healthcare, Amedisys Healthcare and Cooperative Service.

Ja’ Havien Rashand Hannor was born on May 3, 2007 in Albany, Georgia to the late Yolanda Holmes and Alton Hannor. Ja’Havien was a very creative young man that loved to cook, draw and play games. He was an 8th grader at Sumter County Intermediate School in Americus, GA. He passed away tragically on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. He was preceded in death by and aunt, Tometa Mable; his grandmother, Fannie Lowry and great grandmother, Martha Holmes.

He leaves to mourn his passing his siblings: Shyeirria Holmes, Jezeriah White, Brooklyn White, Kentravious Holmes and Makayla Tyner all of Americus, GA; his step-father, Jeffery Tyner; grandparents: Violetta Hannor of Montezuma, GA and Ruby Tyner of Americus, GA; aunts & uncles: Nicole Mable (D’angelo Paschal) Satrina Holmes (Everett Curry), Eric Holmes (Jacquita Hodge), Tandria Boone, Sakethia Mack, Willie Holmes, Keneisha Tyner and Frank (Ruby) Angry, Keyuana Hannor, Donesha Ogburn and Kia Ogburn all of Americus, GA; cousins: Tra’Dasia Evans, Adam Holmes, Angie Holmes, Randy Holmes Treqvez Mable Diundey Moore, Cordeon Roberts and Tyler Holmes all of Americus, GA. Mrs. Zedie Hankerson

The Graveside Service for Mrs. Zedie Mae H. Hankerson will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Montezuma, GA with Minister James Harrison, officiating. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and practice social distancing for your protection and the safety of others. 

Mrs. Zedie Mae H. Hankerson, better known as “Zett”, was born July 19, 1941 to the late Zedie and Mamie H. Harrison in Macon County, Georgia. Zett attended Flint River Farm and later D.F Douglass High School. She joined the Mt. Pleasant Traveler’s Rest C.M.E Church at an early age. Zett was a faithful member until her health declined. 

Zett was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jimmy Quinn in 1964.  They were married until his sudden and untimely death.  In 1971, she married Ulysses “Bo” Hankerson.  Upon this union, she became a surrogate/stepmother to her husband's 8 children.  She worked hard as a dedicated, loving wife and mother. Zett and Bo were married for 47 years when he transitioned to his heavenly home in July of 2018.

Zett departed her earthly life on June 15, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings: Annie Buckles, James Harrison, Charlie Harrison, Charles Harrison, Mildred Tuff, Bobby Harrison, and Douglas Harrison.  She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter Kim Hankerson Myers.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory: one sister, Jessie Bell Spivey (James T) Byromville, GA;  her dedicated and devoted niece, Rose Marie Brown (Marvin), that she assisted in rearing as her own child;  devoted nephew, Larry Spivey and Victoria Spivey of  Unadilla, GA; two devoted great nieces, Marvis and Zyriah Brown of Montezuma, GA, who loved and devoted themselves to her as though she were their grandmother; stepchildren: Melody Oliver (Isiah) of Montezuma, GA, Oneita McDonald (Ernest), Mary Francis Hankerson Hayes (Lee Willie) of Oglethorpe, GA, Cassandra Hankerson Phillips (Samuel) of Columbus, GA, Ulyssess Hankerson II, Donna Hankerson, and Theresa Hankerson all of Atlanta, GA; in-laws: Billy (Edith) Quinn, Karen (Ralph) Oliver, and Linda Hill all of Montezuma, GA;   a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Byron Bernard “Noonie” Williams was born April 25, 1963 in Americus, GA to the late Arthur Willie Williams and the late Annie Maude Williams Harris.  He grew up in Americus, Georgia and was educated in Sumter County.  “Noonie” loved the outdoors. Fishing was his passion. He was a jack of all trades and a very handy person to have around. 

Byron is predeceased by his brothers Christopher (Catfish) Williams of Americus, Georgia, and Arthur “Tweet” Williams of Fort Valley, Georgia.  “Noonie” passed away unexpectedly at the age of 58 on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. 

He is survived by his son, Noah Ruff Williams of Griffin, GA; his sister, Sherryl Griffin of Columbus, GA, daughter, Shantorria Boner of Dawson, GA; grandson, Braylen Jones of Dawson, GA; devoted friend, Sonya Ruff of Griffin, GA; nephew, Diquon and Sharlene Griffin of  Columbus, GA; niece, LaKeisha and Reese Grayson of Bonaire, GA; nephews: Torryne and Renee Williams of Bonaire, GA and Corey and Sheena Williams of North Fork, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, and devoted friends, including Carolyn Barnes of Fort Valley, GA and a devoted sister-in-law Sharon Williams of Chesapeake Bay, VA.

Mrs. Sarah Smith was born on September 8, 1940 in Americus, Georgia to the late Mother Mary Lizzie Smith Green and the late Deacon Crawford Green. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a faithful member of the Perry Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess. Mrs. Smith passed away peacefully on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Mr. Henry and Mrs. Betty Green, Mr. Green Smith and Mrs. Henrietta Newsome Green; four brothers: Crawford Green, Jr., Eddie Lee Green, Claude Edward Green and Willie Lee Green.

Mr. Willie Scott Binn was born on December 21, 1944 to the late Mrs. Eddie B. Leverett Binn and the late Mr. Jimmy Binn. Mr. Binn was a man that loved to fish, garden and do yard work. He will be missed by many.

Ms. Bianco Shambrea French was born on September 23, 1983, in Panama City, Florida to Alfreda Jarvis and the late Calvin Milledge, Sr. Bianco was educated in the public school system of Panama City, Florida and was a 2001 graduate of A.D. Harris High School. She was once employed as a Correctional Officer at the Youth Detention Center in Americus and was currently an Assistant Manager at KFC in Americus, Georgia. Bianco passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Paulding Wellstar in Hiram, Georgia.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Chloe Ponder, Avien Williams and McKinley Smith; her mother, Alfreda Jarvis (Harold); a devoted companion, Terrance Jones; eight brothers and sisters: Jonathan Floyd, Randy Floyd, Angel Floyd, Patrick Milledge, Kalondra Jones, Calvin Milledge, Jr., Travis Milledge and Veronica Milledge; a special friend, Destiny Givens.  A Memorial Service for Mr. Bobby Lee Mathis will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. on Lonnie Lane in Americus, Georgia with Rev. Campbell officiating.

Bobby Lee Mathis was born on July 12, 1944 to the late Leola Jones. He was a civil rights member for many years. He also worked and owned his own carpentry business until his health failed. On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Bobby departed this life at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Clause Lee Jones, Joseph Jones, Sr. and McArthur Jones.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Helena Mathis; two daughters: Artricia Jones and Selena Black; one son, Darryl Johnson; three brothers: James Jones, Fred (Amanda) Jones and Moses (Joyce) Jones; three sisters: Mary (Robert) Tucker, Paula Kay (Jessie) Jones, Dana Jones and Geonna Jones; mother-in-law, Bertha Bless; brother-in-law, Fred (Alyssa) Smith, Jr.; grandchildren: Ryan Spann, Ebony Cotton, Jamin Jones, KhaMyrhion Jones, Arianna Johnson, Nevaeh Johnson, DaKiyah Johnson and Maliyah Johnson.

She was married to the late Mr. Bennie James Lyles. Mrs. Lyles passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Ms. Salathia Bivins Woods, Ms. Mary Woods, Ms. Susie Woods, Mr. Jimmy Woods, Ms. Regina Woods and Mr. Henry Woods; a half-sister, Mrs. Minnie Ruth Tatum and two uncles: Mr. Eddie W. Bivins and wife Mrs. Rena Gibson Bivins and Travis Bivins; sister-in-law, Ms. Nettie Woods Lyles; brothers-in-law: Mr. Nathaniel Lyles, Mr. Johnny B. Lyles, Mr. Robert Lyles and Mr. Willie Lee Lyles; mother and father-in-law of the late Mr. John Benjamin Lyles and Mrs. Bertha Holmes Lyles. 

She leaves fond memories to be cherished by her daughter, Miss Tamica Lyles; two brothers: Mr. Eugene Woods, Mr. Wilbert Woods and his wife Mrs. Yvette Prince Woods; step-brother, Mr. Willie Woods Sr.; brother-in-law, Mr. Charles Lyles; sisters-in-law: Ms. Ola Dean Ingram, Ms. Annie Cleveland, Ms. Sarah Thomas, Ms. Mamie Tavare, Ms. Mary Lyles Hill and Ms. Annie B. Graveside Services for Janerise McCoy of Americus, GA will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Friendship Council Cemetery in Desoto, GA on Hwy 195. Janerise died tragically on Friday, May 14, 2021 in Americus, GA.

She is survived by her daughter, Harmony Ford; her mother Bertha Mae Biggins of Desoto, GA and her father Alexander McCoy of Americus, GA; one sister, Shanteria Monae McCoy and a brother Brandon Jama Biggins. Several other relatives and friends also survive.
