The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mary Dean Harp of Oglethorpe, Georgia will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Willie Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Oglethorpe City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Dean Williams Harp was born in Americus, Georgia on July 4, 1946 to the late Virgil Henry Williams and Clydie Bell Williams. She was educated in the Sumter County public school system. Mary received her Christian training in local churches. She later became a faithful member of New Life Holiness Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia.
In 1987, she was united in holy matrimony to Willie James Harp who preceded her in death. Mary Dean was known as “Sweet Mary”. She always had a beautiful smile and was very friendly and outspoken. On Monday, August 19, 2019, God embraced her as she transitioned from labor to reward at her home. She is preceded in death by six brothers and one sister: Walter B. Williams, James Williams, Virgil Williams, Arthur Williams, Thomas Williams, Furlow Williams and Christine Williams.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her daughters: Brenda Stanton and Tammy Williams of Montezuma, Georgia; her son, Gregory Williams of Oglethorpe, Georgia; grandchildren: Keith Stanton of Atlanta, Georgia, TeKorien Brown Williams, Mercedez Collier, TeKamry Brown Williams, Marquez Collier and Teyunna Williams all of Montezuma, Georgia; great grandchildren: Isaiah Thomas of Warner Robins, Georgia and Paislely Wiggins of Montezuma, Georgia; sister, Hazel (Ernest) Harp of Andersonville, Georgia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ardean Clark, Virginia H. Whitehead (Phil) and Eddie Harp (Barbara) all of Oglethorpe, Georgia and Willie B. Harp (Loretta) of Americus, Georgia; a host of very dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
