I wanted to say that the almighty God tells us at Rev.21:3,4 that he will get rid of everything that causes pain and suffering even death. This is a future promise that we can that we all can look forward to.

Please accept my deepest sympathies.
I didn't know James personally, but I do know that sting of losing a loved one.
When I need comfort I turn to Jehovah Gods promises found in the Bible.
At Hosea 13:14  we are told that Jehovah will use his magnificent power to redeem those ones. That sting will be a thing of the past.

again, please take care.

I am sorry you have suffered the loss of someone dear to you, please have faith in God. By meditating on God’s promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going throughout your grief. "For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus."—1 Thessalonians 4:14
