The funeral service for Mr. James Miles, Sr. of Americus, GA will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Friendship Baptist Church on Cotton Ave. in Americus, GA. Burial will follow at Staley Memorial Gardens. 

James Miles Sr. was born on October 29, 1932 in Webster County Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Charlie Will Miles and Mrs. Bessie Hawkins Miles. At an early age he went to live with his grandparents, the late Mr. Sie Hawkins and Mrs. Bertha Potter Hawkins. On August 16, 1951 he was united in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Virginia Melvin Miles and to the union five children were born. He also married Mrs. Betty Hose Miles, who also preceded him in death. He was a very hard working man throughout his life and owned several businesses during his younger years such as Miles One Stop Service Station, The Ponderosa Drive Inn, and The Astra Club. James also retired from Textron after many years of faithful service. He was also a faithful member of Eastview Dr. Church of Christ until his health failed and, he was unable to attend. He was preceded in death by his daughter Ms. Lucretia Miles and his brother Mr. Willie Miles.

He was survived by two daughters Addie Lamar of Americus GA and Kate Lyles of Albany GA; four sons: James Miles Jr. (Norwana) and Milton Miles of Americus GA, Thomas Jefferson Miles of Albany GA and Magulel Washington of California; a devoted step daughter Christine McClain and a devoted family friend Ellen Miles. He also leaves thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-seven great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Joseph Taylor

The Funeral Service for Mr. Joseph Lee Taylor of Americus, Georgia will be conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor George F. Monts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Joseph Lee Taylor was born on February 20, 1945 to the parentage of the late Mr. John “Papa Dad” Taylor and the late Mrs. Ella Mae Hart Taylor. Joseph, affectionately known as “Jody Blue”, was the youngest of three children.  He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County.  He was employed with Wheatley Construction for 20 years and Georgia Seed of Plains, Georgia for many years.

Joseph passed away on Saturday morning, May 25, 2019 at Pruitt Nursing Center in Macon, Georgia. He was preceded in death by two siblings: Mary Lee Hart and Willie Lee Taylor and his grandparents: Charlie Lee and Beulah Hart; two nephews: James Wallace and Gene Wallace and one niece, Josephine Banks.

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife, Mrs. Elnora Williams Taylor; his children: Teresa (Charles) Durham and Jeffrey (Regina) Taylor; five grandchildren: Korderis Taylor, Brittany Taylor, Jeffrey Taylor Jr. Quashawn Durham and Yazmen Paul; eight great grandchildren: Alieyah, Je’Leiyah, A’nessia, Timothy, Korderion, Kemorrion, Ayden and Darious; three great nieces: Rose Banks, Martha Douglas and Emily Banks; one great nephew, John Banks.  Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, other relatives including devoted friends; Eric Monts and Johnny Murphy also survive.

Mrs. Wilma Gilbert Hadley

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Wilma Gilbert Hadley of Montezuma, Georgia  will be conducted Friday, May 31, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Good News Ministries, 201 Mayo Street, Americus, Georgia with Bishop E.J. Wallace officiating.

Mrs. Wilma Denise Gilbert Hadley was born on September 16, 1960 to the late William Gilbert and the late Geraldine Rucker in Montezuma, Georgia. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at the age of twelve. She joined First Salem Baptist Church and served faithfully until she moved to Florida.

Wilma attended the public schools of Broward County, Florida. She lived and worked in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and married Mr. Charles Hadley. Wilma departed this life on her father's birthday, May 25, 2019 at Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon "Cherry" Gilbert Thomas (Benjamin) and her aunt, Elizaabeth Ann McLean. 

Precious memories are left with her loving husband, Charles  Hadley of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; seven siblings: Teresa "Tina" Gilbert Sneed, William  Erving Gilbert and Sandra "Sandy" Gilbert all of Montezuma, Georgia, Tracy Gilbert White of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, June Gilbert Rangel (Ricardo) of Pompano Beach, Florida and William Otis "Billy" Gilbert of Lake Worth, Florida; her half-sister, Lola Jenkins; step-daughter, Brittney Hadley ; grandson, Dakari Tillman; goddaughters: Semetrea Harris and Phebe Walker; grand aunt, Ethel Lee Jones; aunts and uncles: Retha Jones (Alton), William Harris (Thelma) and Gloria White; devoted cousins: Mary Helen and Richard Clark and Elaine Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Frank James Andrews of Plains, Georgia will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Zion Webster Baptist Church with Pastor George Monts officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Mr. Frank James Andrews was born in Sumter County on April 6, 1962 to the parentage of the late Rosa Lee Andrews and James Prince. He was educated in the Sumter County Schools and graduated in the class of 1981.  Then he joined the United States Army where he served for 10 years.  Frank joined the Mt. Zion Webster Baptist Church under the leadership of the late G. W. Nealy. 

He leaves to cherish his memories his brother Richard Andrews and sister Gloria Hurley both of Plains, GA; four aunts:  Barbara Thomas of Flint Michigan, Ms. Mattie Pearl Andrews of Mt. Infant Aniah Nevaeh Wallace

A’niah Nevaeh Wallace the infant daughter of Ny’Aisa Wallace and Jeremiah Robinson Baker was born on November 24, 2018 in Sumter County, GA.

She lived five beautiful months but our Heavenly Father had bigger plans for our Princess. She loved to get pushed around, she also loved to swing and play with her family. A’niah passed away peacefully on, Wednesday, May 22, 2019. She was preceded in death by her great grandmother Debra Wallace and an uncle Antonio Gordon.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:45 in Babyland at Eastview Cemetery.

Memories of her precious life will forever be remembered by her parents Ny’Aisa Wallace and Jeremiah Robinson Baker; grandmothers: Kimothy Wallace and Paulette Baker, her grandfather, James Seay; four aunts: Kayla Berry, Khyla Berry, Ty’aisha Jones and Y’nae Baker of Americus, GA, two uncles: Kenneth Baker and Kenneth Robinson of Orange County; six great uncles; one devoted uncle, Jonas Wallace, Americus, GA; a devoted God Mother, Oceana Polk; devoted cousin, Devonte Tucker of Americus, one great aunt, Ruby Christmas, four great great uncles, and a host of other relatives also survive.

Mrs. Sharon Daniels-Robinson

The funeral service for Mrs. Sharon Daniels-Robinson of Americus, Georgia will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Eastview Church of Christ in Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at West's Mortuary on Sunday from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Sharon Elaine Mathis, the daughter of the late Mrs. Amanda Casey Smith and the late Mr. Henry Mathis was born on December 5, 1950.  She journeyed home on May 16, 2019.

Sharon Daniels Robinson attended Eastview Elementary School and Staley Jr. High School in Americus, Georgia before moving with her family to Palmetto, Florida, where she finished high school.  She received an AA degree from Manatee Jr. College in Bradenton, Florida and a B.S. degree from Albany State University.  She also completed an M.S. degree and a Special Masters degree from Troy State University.  She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  She became an Educator in Thomas County, Georgia before retiring from Houston County, Georgia as a Special Education teacher.  In 2013, she moved back to Americus, Georgia and joined Eastview Drive Church of Christ.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Mr. Russell A. Daniels of Jonesboro, Georgia and Mr. Marc  A. Daniels (Debra) of Byron, Georgia; a sister, Ms. Carmen A. Mathis (Calvin Pennicott) of York, New York; a devoted cousin, Mrs. Veronica Evans of Americus, Georgia; a cousin, Mr. Craig Dawson (Kimberly) of Tampa, Florida; a cousin, Mrs. Jan Morgan Hill of Plains, Georgia; two grandchildren, Mrs. Shanteria Wallace (Marquelle Sr.) and Mr. Nicholas Daniels (Adrienne) of Byron, Georgia; three great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends survive.

The Funeral Service for Ms. Ella Mae Daniels of Americus, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Americus Holiness Deliverance Church, 1243 Faith Street, Americus, Georgia.

Ms. Ella Mae Daniels was born in Sumter County, Georgia on August 18, 1946 to the late Mr. Willie Roy Daniels and the late Mrs. Rosa Lee Jackson Daniels. She was a member of Americus Holiness Deliverance Church in Americus, Georgia. Ms. Daniels departed this life on April 24, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Daniels and sister, Retha Mae Bridges.

She is survived by five sisters: Ira Lee Daniels, Mary Grant, Rosetta Lusane, Paula Renee Dodson and Mary Leverette; one brother, Connie Leverette; a host of nieces and nephews, other relative and friends.

Mr. Jessie Thomas

Mr. Jessie Bernard Thomas was born in Americus, Georgia on June 17, 1963 to Jesse Thomas and Eva Thomas. Jesse passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Lillian Carter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Plains, Georgia. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Tabernacle Baptist Church with  Rev. Alfred Starling officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Webster Baptist Church Cemetery in Preston, Georgia.

On April 20, 2019, God reached down and gave Jessie Bernard Thomas his wings. He was the oldest of Eva Thomas and the late Jessie Thomas. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Stephanie Elaine Thomas. He attended Sumter County High School where he later graduated in 1981. At an early age he joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Webster County. He owned his own Trucking Company, The Thomas Angels. He enjoyed All Sports.

Left to celebrate his life are his wife, Gloria Thomas; five loving children: Kenyatta Thomas, Jessica Thomas, Precious Thomas, Jestine Thomas and Jessie Thomas, Jr.; his mother, Eva Thomas; step mother, Lena Thomas; three sisters: Deleisa Daniels, Sherri Dorsey and Pam (Ray) Daniels; two brothers: Johnny Ladd and Patrick Thomas; four loving grandchildren: Tramia Rush, Kearsten Thomas, Jordin Young and Jesten Thomas; aunts and uncles: Ida Johnson, Lue (Johnny) Hardnett, Will (Gail) Grimes, Lorenzo (Reatha) Thomas, Jermiah (Josephine) Thomas, Emma (Sammie) Hall and Gloria Thomas; mother-in-law, Christine Young; sisters-in-law: Wyvonia Smith, Demetria (Henry) Brown, Elizabeth Mackey (Kelly), and Darwin (Sherry) Hicks; brother-in-law, Ullic (Lydia) Young; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends survive.

Mrs. Elizabeth A. Larry

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Elizabeth A. Larry of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Magnolia Baptist Church, 415 Hosie Waters Street, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery.

A towering personality who lit up the room with wit and wisdom, and a self-less supporter of the successes of her husband and sons, Elizabeth Larry took her rest on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at home in Montezuma.

Elizabeth Anne Larry ("Liz"), the youngest of the late Henry and Caroline Thornton's twelve children, was born June 11, 1938 in Montezuma, Georgia.  She was educated at the Macon County Training School, graduating in 1956.  After graduation, she moved to Chicago to live with her older sister.  There she married her one and only true love, Willie J. Larry ("Joe").  To this union, four sons were born.

Before returning to Montezuma, Liz and Joe lived in Washington, DC, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, and Kaiserslautern, West Germany during his military commitment.  After returning home, Liz took the lead in raising the four boys until Joe rejoined her full-time in 1983 following his military retirement.  They joined Union Baptist Church, and later became members of Magnolia Baptist Church.  Liz retired from Southern Frozen Foods in 1992 after 27 years of employment.

Six brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. 

Although her family's light of hope has gone dim, her glow is carried forth by those she leaves to cherish her memory:  her loving husband of 61 years, Willie James Larry; a loving sister, Elois Thornton Nicholson, Montezuma, GA; four sons:  Jay Larry, Parsippany, NJ; Geoffrey Larry (Bernice), Montezuma; Ronald Larry (Phyllis), Warner Robins, GA; George Larry (Susan), Rochester, NY;  thirteen grandchildren, two of whom she raised as her own, Keishya Larry and Keith Larry, both of Montezuma, Georgia; twelve great-grandchildren, devoted nieces, granddaughter, and caregiver, Charlotte Nicholson, Caroline Nicholson Carter (Norman), Sharmillian Larry, and Kimberly Larry, all of Montezuma, Georgia, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. David Mahome

The Memorial Service for Mr. David Mahome of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of West's Mortuary in Americus, Georgia with Bishop Melvin McCluster officiating.

Mr. David Mahome was born in Sumter County, Georgia on July 29, 1957 to the late Mr. Howard Mahome and the late Mrs. Mary Harris Mahome.  He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County.  He was an employee of Roy Daniel, Jr. Farms for many years. David was skilled in landscaping. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Irene Mahome Pride and Ida Bell Mahome and two brothers: Oliver Mahome and Henry Mahome, Sr.

He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters: Martiki Salter of Tennille GA and Shantavia Mahome of Warthen, GA; one grandson, Ryan Mahome of Warthen, GA; two brothers: James Mahome and Walter Mahome of Americus, GA; two sisters: Mary Rose Floyd of Greensboro, NC and Catherine J. Cross of Americus, GA; one sister-in-law, Kim Mahome; two special friends: Mack Warren of Americus, GA and Dwayne Johnson of Sandersville, GA; a devoted niece, Sharon Mahome; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
