The Funeral Service for Mr. Michael Joe Felton Sr. of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at First Salem Baptist Church, Twin Churches Road, Montezuma, Georgia. Michael Joe Felton Sr. was born October 5, 1961, in Montezuma, Georgia. He was the son of Florie Felton the late Alonzo Woolfolk. He received his education in the Macon County School System at the Historic D.F. Douglass High School. At an early age, he became a member of the Harrison Chapel Baptist Church. Michael, better known as “Mike”, was employed at the Tyson Feed Mill where he worked as a rail receiver for 20 years, until his health declined.

On February 25,1983, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life Barbara Jean Carr and to this union they were blessed with two children. Mike was a man that had a huge passion for farming as well as raising his animals, working in the garden, and most of all making his famous Brunswick Stew.

On Monday, September 12,2022, Mike took his final breath and went to live with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alonzo Woolfork and Inez Woolfork; his siblings: Tony Felton, Lonnie Woolfork Sr, Gladys Felton, Jerome Felton, and Audrey Woolfork.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory, his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Barbara Carr Felton of Montezuma, Georgia; his two children: Michael Felton Jr. (Kimberly) and Alicia Michelle Felton of Montezuma, Georgia (and her friend Alvin Stokes Sr.) of Savannah, Georgia; his mother, Florie Felton of Montezuma, Georgia; two grandchildren: Angel Cochran of Hampton, Georgia and Alvin Stokes Jr. of Montezuma, Georgia; five step-grandchildren: Jaquiez Harris, Ajanae Perkins, Makhil Perkins, Precious Ellis, and Akeelah Ellis; three brothers: Darron Felton of Montezuma, Georgia, Dennis (Betty) Thomas and Reginald (Brenda) Thomas all of Hartford, Connecticut; five sisters: Anne Felton and Sharon (Jody) Beal of Montezuma, Georgia, Tammy (Vashati) Felton of Lexington, South Carolina, Amillia (Eric) Williams of Montezuma, Georgia, and Lisa (Arney) Bryant of Vienna, Georgia; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bessie (John) Tookes of Montezuma, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Doris (Nathaniel) Harris and Martha Harris of Montezuma, Georgia, Prophet Charlie C. Carr of Leesburg, Georgia, Calvin (MaryAnn) Carr of Perry, Georgia and Trenna Felton of Americus, Georgia; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends.

The Graveside Service for Mrs. Shanita Green Banks of Preston, Georgia will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.

Mrs. Shanita Kyuna Banks was born in Americus, Georgia on January 17, 1975, to the late Mrs. Eve Mae Green Broner (the late Mr. Eddie Frank Broner) and Mr. R. Rowland.

Shanita was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age she gave her life to Christ. On July 19, 1990, she married the love of her life, Mr. Calvin E. Banks, Sr. To this marriage, four children were born. Shanita was a loving and devoted mother. On September 10, 2022, she transitioned to be with the Lord.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband of thirty-two years, Mr. Calvin E. Banks, Sr; her children: Ms. Shakita Banks of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Calvin E. Banks, Jr. (Tykerria) of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Nico Banks and Mr. Marquise Banks (Melissa) of Preston, Georgia; one brother, Mr. Octavious Broner of Americus, Georgia; one sister, Ms. Shameka Broner of Americus, Georgia; eight grandchildren: Tavores Durham, Jr., Tiara Banks, Ti’yara Banks, Kayden Daniels, Kmarion Banks, Marcellus Barker, Jeremiah Brown and Tyland Banks; four sisters-in-law: Ms. Ilene Garrett of Plains, Georgia, Ms. Cassandra Banks, Ms. Carla Welborn, and Ms. Claudia Walters (Darrell) of Americus, Georgia; eight brothers-in-law: Mr. Alfornia Banks, Mr. Henry C. Welborn (Shawanda), Mr. Charles Welborn, Mr. Tellias Welborn (Joanna), Mr. John Welborn (Cicely), Mr. Tommy Welborn, Mr. Freddie Mullins, and Mr. Eddie Mullins all of Americus, Georgia; a host of nieces and nephews, including a devoted niece and nephew she loved as her own: Ms. Destiny Banks and Mr. Quan’tavius Robinson both of Americus, Georgia; other loving relatives and friends.

 The Memorial Service for Mr. Terry Rolanda Wynn of Hartford, Connecticut will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Champ Waters Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Alfred Wynn officiating. Terry Wynn, son of the late Rosa Wynn and Clifford Mitchell, was born September 9, 1957, in Macon County, (Montezuma) Georgia.  At the age of five, the family moved to Hartford, Connecticut where he graduated in the Connecticut school system. At an early age, Terry confessed Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined Christ Church of Deliverance.  Terry constantly talked about God's grace, mercy and compassion to all in his presence.  He will be remembered for his caring spirit and love for the Word. Terry passed away on Friday, September 10, 2022, in Connecticut.

He leaves to cherish his memory,  two sisters: Joyce Thames of Connecticut and Katrina (Jeffrey) Waller of North Carolina;  two nephews: Darryl Thames of Connecticut and Ryan Oliver of North Carolina;  two nieces: Courtney Thames of Connecticut and Brooklynn Waller of North Carolina; Precious memories will remain with his loving family which includes first cousins:  Willie James Loftly, Paul Loftly, Leonard Wynn, Virginia Loftly, Rosa Allen, Cora Mae Wynn, Tony Martin; and a host of great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.

Ms. Odessa “Perk” Foster was born February 27, 1945, in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Mr. Rozell Foster Sr. and the late Mrs. Ida Willie Mott Foster. She attended Staley High School and after high school, she worked at Walmart for several years before an unfortunate injury. After that, Ms. Odessa focused solely on her family. She loved to cook big meals for them and have family time together. In her free time, Ms. Odessa also loved shopping. She was well known by the community to shop at her two favorite stores, Salvation Army and Goodwill.

On September 7, 2022, Ms. Odessa departed this life peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Roy Foster Sr., Rozell Foster Jr., Eddie Foster, David Foster and Charlie Foster and her sisters: Lillian Foster, Ida Mae Foster, Mattie Foster and Juanita Foster. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, one sister, Doris Baisden of New Jersey; one daughter, Renita (Reginald) Woods of Americus, Georgia and two sons: Gregory (Phalisha) Foster of Dallas, Georgia and Trevor Stewart of Americus, Georgia; three devoted grandchildren, Jacquita (Eric) Holmes, Tyler and Lyric Hodge;  grandkids: Vishaun Foster, Ieshia Foster, Cameron Foster, Chance Foster, Britney Stewart, Amber Stewart, Annanise (A.J.) Stewart and Jac’deja Stewart; great-grands: Samaria Ingram, Eryn Stewart and Caitlyn Gardner; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.

Interment will follow on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia. It is MANDATORY that you wear a mask at this service. Mr. Carl Isreal was born in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Willie Isreal Sr. and Lillian Clark Isreal on July 24, 1950. He attended D.F. Douglass High School and graduated in 1968. After high school, he attended Fort Valley State University. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Carolyn Johnson Isreal on December 13, 1970.

Carl served his country faithfully as a member of the United States Coast Guard for eight years. He worked at the Savannah Beach Nursing Home for ten years, was a member of the Savannah Fire Department for five years, and worked at Tyson Foods for ten years. Carl’s true passion was working in his yard as often as he could to keep his lawn fresh and his flowers blooming. On September 5, 2022, Carl departed this life and entered into eternal rest.

Beautiful memories will forever be cherished by: his loving wife of fifty-one years, Carolyn Isreal; his son, Travis Isreal; his sister, Delois Journey (Billy-deceased); his brothers: Willie Isreal Jr. (Jafflyon), Frankie Isreal (Katherine-deceased), Dave Isreal (Lorraine), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss him very much.

The Graveside Service for Mrs. Norma Perkins Jackson of Rochester, MI will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Brown Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Norma Perkins Jackson was born on January 1, 1936, in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Norman Perkins Sr. and Bessie Sneed Perkins. Norma acquired her education in the public schools of Macon County. She completed high school at the Historic Flint River Farm School and attended Beautician school in Atlanta, Georgia. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and became a member of Brown Chapel Baptist Church where she was a devout member until moving to Hartford, Connecticut. While in Hartford she met and married Frederick Jackson on November 4, 1967. 

After many years of working in the manufacturing industry in and around Hartford, Norma moved to Michigan to help raise her grandchildren. She had a zeal for life and loved doing activities with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren that brought her joy. She traveled around the world five times, lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for four years, visited Beijing China, Paris France, London England, Amsterdam Netherlands, Singapore, Phuket Thailand, Tokyo Japan, Maui Hawaii and the Bahamas via a Disney Cruise. Norma also loved cooking, reading, and listening to all kinds of music from Opera to Jazz to Motown Soul.

Norma was a devoted wife during her marriage, a caring mother, grandmother and godmother, loving sister, proud aunt, and kind great-aunt. She was well loved by her friends. On Sunday, August 28, 2022, surrounded by family, she transitioned to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by five siblings: Bessie Perkins Leary, Carrie Perkins Palmer, Edith Perkins Davis, Ruby Sullins and Norman Perkins, Jr.

Mrs. Norma Perkins Jackson leaves to cherish her loving memory: her daughter, Janet (John) Taylor; grandchildren: Jordan Elizabeth Taylor and John Norman Taylor; godson, Steve Sullins; six siblings: Lillian Perkins Butler, Decatur, Georgia, Claude Perkins, College Park Georgia, Lena Perkins Johnson, Montezuma Georgia, Richard Perkins, Montezuma Georgia, Ernest Perkins (Sharon), Atlanta, Georgia, and Joseph Perkins, Montezuma, Georgia; a host of beloved nieces and nephews, including special and devoted nieces Meredith and Jackie Palmer, devoted nephew Bruce Palmer;  cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Freddie Zachary Calloway, Jr. was born on January 9, 1954, in Americus, Georgia. He was the son of Mrs. Ozie Calloway and the late Mr. Freddie Calloway, Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan. Fred Jr., as he was affectionately called by family, was the first born to this union. Educated in Americus public schools, Fred Jr. was a 1973 graduate of Americus High School, Americus, Georgia. At an early age, he joined Big Bethel Baptist Church, North Jackson Street, Americus, Georgia. For years Fred Jr. worked at Cooper Lighting until he discovered his passion for truck driving. He drove trucks for Joe Underwood Trucking, Americus, Georgia and Western Trucking. Fred Jr. departed this life on August 15, 2022.

Geneviena Towns Jackson was born on June 23, 1968, in Dooling, Georgia to Ruby G. Towns and J.C. Adams. GiGi, as she was affectionately called, attended the Dooly County School System and later received her GED in Atlanta, Georgia. At an early age, she accepted the Lord as her Savior. Geneviena was always a hard, dedicated worker. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

On August 6, 2022, GiGi grabbed her wings to heaven in Montezuma, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby G. Towns; her brother and sister: Marquis D. Towns and Susie M. Towns; and her grandparents: Annie Kate McClendon and John Gordon.

GiGi leaves precious memories to be cherished by her husband, Donald James Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; their children: Ramsey Jackson, Christina Smith and Jerrell Jackson; four grandchildren: Malaysia McLawrence, Amira Jackson, Mariah Wallace and Nova Jackson; fifteen siblings: Tharetha Towns, Annie R. Towns, Christopher A. Towns, Mahalie Clark, Payton Lango, Betty Merrell, Maenell Hardrick, Alzona Adams, Ruthie Mae Adams, Curtis Adams, James Adams, Bernell Adams, Lucy Adams, Jerome Adams, and Rolie Adams; her aunts and uncles: Victoria McClendon, Eddie F. Mr. Danny Gooden was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 18, 1953, to the late Dan Edward Gooden and the late Lucy B. Gainer. He received his education in the public schools of Sumter County. Mr. Gooden transitioned at his home in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Arthur J. Goodman, Richland Gaynor and Lee Warren Gooden; an aunt, Nancy Evans; and his grandmothers: Irma L. Fuller and Ethel L Tolbert.

Charlie Reginald Clark was born on December 25, 1960, to the late Roy Clark and Eva Minter Clark in Schley County, Georgia. He graduated from Tri-County High School in 1978. Charlie worked in several trailer plants. He was a jack of all trades. Charlie departed this earthly life on August 4, 2022. Three siblings preceded him in death: Eugene Clark Sr., William Clark and Windel Clark.

Charlie Reginald Clark will be remembered with love and affection by his wife, Teresa Brown Clark of Americus, Georgia; four children: Marquita Clark, Maurice Holloway (Skakeitha) all of Americus, Georgia, Laterin Clark of Columbus, Georgia, and Deandre Harris of Albany, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; his siblings and their spouses: Effie Louise Raines, Charlie Rose Tookes (Johnny), Edward Clark, Ida Pearl Langes, Mary Edith Carter (Eddie), Minnie Jewel Holmes of Ellaville, Georgia, James Clark (Fannie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Jimmy Lee Clark (Rachel) of Montezuma, Georgia and Ardine Harpe Clark of Andersonville, Georgia; A host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
