The Funeral Service for David Lee Monts, Sr., “Wig”, of Smithville, Georgia will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at Whole Truth International Ministries in Americus, Georgia with Pastor George F. Monts officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

David Lee Monts, Sr., “Wig”, was born in Sumter County, Georgia on April 30, 1946, to the parentage of the late Mr. George Costell Monts and Mrs. Lucille Ross Monts. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. In 1967, he united with Sarah Monts. To their union three children were born: Jacqueline, David Lee Jr. and Carl. David's parents passed away while he was young, and he was reared by his elder brother George Frank Monts. David was a man of endurance and strength. Believe it or not, he could lift up the front end of a car.

At an early age, he joined Bethlehem Baptist Church. In his later years, he began attending Whole Truth International Ministries until his health failed. In 1960, he was employed at Marlett Construction Company. In 2016, he retired from Sunshine Construction, where he was the co-founder, production manager and assistant to the president, his special friend/brother, Dean Bodine. He truly enjoyed construction work. There was hardly anything he could not build. In fact, he could nearly provide accurate measurements without a tape measure. He was also well versed in Math and History.

During his younger years, he played softball and managed a team.  He enjoyed playing checkers and shooting pool. He loved spending time with his nephews at the place he called “The House.” To many he was known as “Unc or Pops”. David possessed a no-nonsense demeanor but would give you his last. His children, grandchildren and great grands were his world. They were his first choice for spending his loving time with. He instilled the importance of love and family bonding. No matter the circumstances, we were required to “STICK TOGETHER”.

On November 25, 2022, David departed his earthly home to his heavenly home for a spiritual welcome from his parents and siblings who preceded him in death: Elizabeth Terry, Anna Edwards, Margaret Prepall, George Frank Monts, McArthur Monts, Marvin Monts, Albert Monts, and close cousin, Eddie Rhea Walker.

Mr. Raymond Padilla Favela, Jr. was born on December 19, 1972 in San Bernardino, CA to Raymond Padilla Favela, Sr. and Debbie Romero Favela. He was a loving, caring, outgoing soul who never took life for granted. He was so free spirited that he would do things in life most people would be afraid to do in a whole life time. Raymond departed from this world on October 23, 2022 in Americus, Georgia. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by West’s Mortuary

He loved his kids so much, he would do anything to make them have everything he never did. He was loved and will still be loved after death. His favorite thing to do was take his boat out on the lake on hot summer days and ride through the waves of beautiful bodies of water. That's when I believe he was at his full potential and peace. He looked at the waves in such a beautiful way with his beautiful brown eyes. He will forever be missed. He left a dent in everyone's heart that he encountered.

He leaves behind two children, Mya Favela and Neko Favela
