Mr. James Wendell Jones of Americus, Georgia died on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in Palm Beach County, Florida. At his family’s request Mr. Jones was cremated and there will be no formal funeral service.

Mr. James Wendell Jones was born in Americus, Georgia on August 8, 1983, to Donna Kay Storey and James Wendell Harden.

Left to cherish his memories are his parents: Donna Kay Storey (Mike) of Panama City Beach, Florida and James Wendell Harden of Marion, Arkansas; his siblings: Jimmy Lynn Jones of Cordele, Georgia, Robert Lee Jones of Butler, Georgia and Jonathan Jones of Cordele, Georgia; one uncle, Richard Wayne Storey of Americus, Georgia; one aunt, Mary Sue Vancikell of Cordele, Georgia; several other relatives and friends also survive.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Shirley Ann Larkins-Sims will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. Please MASK UP for your protection and for the protection of others.

Ms. Shirley Ann Larkins was born on June 21, 1964, to the parentage of the late Arthur Willis Larkins and the late Mattie Pearl Larkins. She attended the Americus Public School System and was employed by Magnolia Manor in the dietary department. In 1995 she married Mr. Erwin Sims. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers: Mr. James Larkins and Mr. Travis Collins.

She is survived by her husband Mr. Erwin Sims, Americus, GA; two daughters: Ms. LaKeza Larkins and Ms. Ashley Larkins both of Americus, GA; a loving and devoted brother, Mr. Christopher Larkins of Americus, GA; two sisters: Ms. Carolyn Larkins of Americus, GA and Ms. Barbara Larkins of Atlanta, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Della) Sims of Rincon, GA, Jurilene (Ralph) Morgan, Margaret (Dennis) Harvey, Wilbert (Helen) Sims, Mandy Sims, Leonard Sims all of Americus, GA, Annie (Eddie) Biggins, and Jerome (Rosie) Sims of Desoto, GA; one uncle, Tommy L. Bruce, Americus, GA; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, friends also survive.

Mr. Edward Volley was born in Americus, Georgia on October 25, 1965, to Ruby Battle Mack Volley and Willie Arthur Lockhart. He was last employed at Wayne’s World. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by West’s Mortuary.

Mr. Edward "Mott" Jackson

The Funeral Service for Mr. Edward “Mott” Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Desmond Rawls officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Please MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others.  

 

Edward “Mott” Jackson, the oldest of nine children, was born June 26, 1940, in Macon County, Georgia to the parentage of Marie Jackson and the late Mott Plass Jackson. Edward received his education through the Macon County Public School System and graduated from D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. After completing high school, he pursued his studies in a CDL Training Program. Edward believed in a strong work ethic. He became employed at Southern Frozen Foods where he worked for more than forty-five years.

 

At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Mt. Pleasant CME Church (Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church) in Montezuma, where he served for years as a steward. There, he served faithfully until his health failed. Everyone who knew him, knew that he was faithful, loving, caring, and dedicated to making those around him feel loved.

 

 

His great work on earth and the love he gave will never be forgotten. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Charlie, Nathaniel, and Cordel Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother, Marie Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; a step-daughter, Angela Shelley of Warner Robins, Georgia; three sisters: Helen Williams of Rochester, New York, Emma Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia, and Julia Tookes (Isaiah) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers: Willie Jackson of Americus, Georgia and Reginald Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; an aunt, Mildred Frederick  of Montezuma, Georgia; two sisters-in-law: Mary Helen Jackson and Brenda Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Brian & Rebecca Terry, LaShun White, Joseph White Jr., Anthony King, Minnie King and Cherronda Tookes; two loving sisters: Mrs. Charlene W. Anthony & Mrs. Shirlene White Monts; one brother, James D. White Sr. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

 Ms. Tiffany Renee’ Patterson was born on October 25, 1983 in Americus, GA to James and Gracie Patterson. She was a member of Old Shady Grove Baptist Church and was employed at Convoy Logistics.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents: Gracie Patterson and James Patterson; two siblings: Janetta Patterson and Brianna Patterson; one aunt, Rosalyn Alexander; one uncle, James Whitehead; her fiancé Jason Reese; three nieces: Alanna Edge, Ayvah Reddick, Alaiyah Reddick.  Mrs. Bernice Ruth Johnson was born on July 6, 1960, in Sumter County, GA to Lucile Brown and the late Rev. Albert Mack, Sr.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Annie Mae Stephens Witcher of Americus, Georgia will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Allen Chapel AME Church in Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery.

Mrs. Annie Mae Stephens Witcher was born December 3, 1930, to B.G. and Noisy Board Stephens. She was a United States Air Force Veteran and an alumnus of Fort Valley State College and Georgia Southwestern College. Mrs. Witcher was an educator. She touched the hearts and minds of many at Staley High School, Ida S. Lowery High School, and Webster County Elementary School. She was also a piano and voice instructor of many in this area. She served as Minister of Music at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, Lebanon Baptist Church, Perry Grove Baptist Church, Union Tabernacle Baptist Church, Bethesda Baptist Church, Scotts Mater CME Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Witcher transitioned on December 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Edith and Odessa Stephens. Precious memories will forever be cherished by her one and only daughter, Queenester (Thomas) Covington, five grandchildren: Phillip Lamont Gandy II, Elijah Stephen Gandy, Kendall Isaiah Gandy, Princess Amadi-Janelle Covington, and Tommye Parissa Covington; A host of cousins, close friends, former students, and church congregations also mourn her loss.

A Memorial Service for DyKameron Isaiah Lamons will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Tabernacle Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia

DyKameron Isaiah Lamons was born in Thomasville, Georgia. He moved to Americus, Georgia in 2010 and graduated from Americus High School in 2020. DyKameron went to Southern Regional Technical College where he majored in welding. He was a member of Union Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served on the Youth Usher Board.  DyKameron passed away on December 12, 2022.

He leaves behind his mother, Kimberly Hudson; father, Sedrick Lamons (Ivory); stepfather, Lloyd Hudson; daughter, Royale Lamons; brothers: ZyQuynnta Hudson (India) and Sedrick Lamons (Janieva); godbrothers: Tavires Williams and Ralph Wilson; sister: Sedrianna Jenkins (Devontae); great-aunt, Jerutha Scott; aunt, Terri Everette (Leroy); uncle, Calvin McKinney; grandfather, Isaiah Thomas; grandmother, Christine Lamons; aunts: Monica Lamons and Monqueze Lamons; godfather, Kevin Scott; aunt, Roxanne Clark; great-aunt, Odessa Williams; great- uncles: Stanley Clark and Roscoe Clark; godmother, Jennifer Angry; god sisters: Daja Tommie and Takesha Darity; bonus sisters: Deyza Scott, Raven Scott, Taylor Scott, Jordan Scott and Clara Wilson; special friend, Zamya Moore; a host of cousins, mentors, and friends.

Mamie Lou Harper Reynolds was born in Americus GA on April 17,1950 to the late Mrs. Ida Mae Harper and Mr. Loggie Harper Sr. She was employed at William’s Warehouse in Plains Ga in 1984. She was happily married to Mr. Phillip Reynolds.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband Phillip Reynolds, Sr; four children: Phillip Reynolds Jr, David Lee Reynolds, Ms. Teresa Reynolds and Marcus Antonio Reynolds; her brothers and sisters: Johnny L. Harper, Willie C. Harper, Willie Jesse Harper, Ezella Harper, Gloria Reynolds and Mae Vester Coleman. Several other relatives and friends also survive.
