Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Virginia Snipes-Atwater will be Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 12:30 at Beulahland Baptist Church in Butler, Georgia with Rev. Alvin Turner officiating.

Clara Virginia Snipes-Atwater was born May 24, 1944 in Butler, Georgia to the late Walter Snipes and Sallie E. Snipes.

She attended Butler, Georgia Schools and graduated from Eureka High School in Butler, Georgia.  She then furthered her education at Fort Valley State College. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia and began working at Grady Health Care System. She stayed there until she became ill and then retired.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a very loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Sallie E. Snipes; a very loyal and supportive son Keith Snipes, and a loving daughter Chiketa Snipes; three sisters, Myrtice Snipes, Madine (Carnell) Ange, of Atlanta Georgia, Debra (Ronald) Jackson of Butler, Georgia; four brothers, Walter (Vickie) Snipes of Atlanta, Georgia, Eddie (Mary) Snipes, Lorenza Snipes, all of Butler, Georgia; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who cared for and love dearly; five aunts, two uncles, and a host of loyal and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth White of Americus, GA will be held on Friday April 12, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the St John A.M.E.Church in Plains, GA with Pastor Shirley Strawter officiating.

 

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth James White was born September 19, 1927 to the parentage of the late Mr. Frank (Pat) and Willie Mae Mathis James in Sumter County, Georgia.  She was educated in the public school system of Sumter County, Georgia.  At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined the St. John A.M. E. Church in Plains, Georgia.  She was an active member of Rohoma Chapter 200 Order of the Eastern Star, until her health failed.

 

On March 16, 1946 she married the love of her life, her soul mate, Mr. Calvin White, Sr.  They shared 62 beautiful years together. Mary work for years at the office of Doctors Robinson, Dudley and Teaford.  After several years, she retired from Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. 

 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Calvin White, Sr,; two sons, Mr. Calvin White, Jr and Mr. Clifford White; her siblings, Mrs. Lulean Laster, Mrs. Thelma James, Mrs. Ruth Woods, Mr. Felton James, Mrs. Fannie Johnson, Mrs. Katie Cottle,  and Mr. Joseph James; and  her son-n-law; Mr. Henry Anthony, Jr.

 

On April 4, 2013, her father’s birthday, Mary Elizabeth White peacefully departed this earthly life surrounded by her family at Phoebe–Sumter Medical Center.

 

Left to cherish her memories, are her two daughters: Mrs. Charlene Anthony and Mrs. Shirlene Monts; her two sons; Mr. Joseph White, Sr. and Mr. James Douglas White, Sr.; sixteen grandchildren that she had a hand in raising; Angela and Michelle Anthony, Towan, Jarrod, Jarrell, Lashun, Joseph, Jr., Ja’Kerria, James, Jr., Stacy, Dexter White, Brian Terry, Anthony and Minnie King, Monique Luster, Monica Harris, Sophia Cooper, Allen Barthell, Sharonda Wilson and Mario Bogans;  44 great-grand children,   nieces and nephews;  Bobbie (Nathaniel) Jean, Lorean, Katie Ruth, Gwen, Gladys, Claude, Mary Ann, Georgia Lee, Daisy, Roscoe, Helena, Joyce, Douglas, Debra, Felton, Bobbie Lee, Mary, Paula, Moses, Charlie, Sammy, Alice, Billy, Lewis, Shirlene, and James; several cousins, South Jackson Street, Meadowwood,  and Meadowbrook Neighbors and friends.
