The Graveside Service for Mr. Arthur Lee McCray will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia with Rev. George F. Monts officiating.

Arthur Lee McCray was born in Lee County, Georgia on December 30, 1944, to the parentage of Willie Lou McCray and Alan Butler, both who proceeded him in death. He was married to the late Mrs. Clara Mae Brown of Smithville, Georgia, and to this union two children were born.

For many years he worked and retired from Cooper Lighting in Americus, Georgia as a forklift driver. He was a member of Saint John of Leslie, Georgia. Mr. Arthur, also known as The Gospel Storyteller, loved to sing. He originally started his singing career with the Golden Airs of Cordele, Georgia. He composed all his own songs. His biggest hit is entitled “Somebody’s Gone.”

Mr. Arthur loved and enjoyed the company of his family and singing every moment he could. Mr. Arthur Lee McCray departed this life on November 21, 2022, at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Johnny Will (Jessie Mae) McCray and King Davis McCray.  

He leaves to cherish his memories two children: a loving daughter Sharon (Eugene) Angry and son Arthur Lee (Denise) McCray Jr.; eight grandchildren: Pamela McCray, Milton McCray, Michelle Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Jacory Phillips, Jawaski Lumpkin, Antwain Mathis, and Mario Lumpkin; four brothers: Howard McCray, James (Dorothy) McCray, Joel (Iris) Hall and Raymond (Cynthia) McCray; two sisters: Annie Ruth Thomas and Mary Lou Davis; other loving relatives and friends.
