The Funeral Service for Missionary Mary Lundy Carter of Americus, Georgia will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Clinton officiating. Due to COVID-19 concerns, as ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others. 

Missionary Mary Lundy Carter was born March 20, 1940, to the late Reverend J.W. Lundy and Mrs. Annie Mae Lundy of Plains, Georgia. She joined Mitchell Grove Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until her health failed. She was educated in the Sumter County public schools. She was married to the late Albert Carter, Sr. She was a good mother and grandmother.

Missionary Carter was a faithful servant of God and lived the life she spoke about.  She was a giver and would help anyone in need. She was a faithful choir member and a great song writer and wrote many inspirational poems. She had a smile that would light up any room

On November 5, 2022, she transitioned from labor to reward. She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend J.W. Lundy; mother, Mrs. Annie Mae Lundy; sisters: Clorie Sykes, Ella Ree Sims, Johnnie Mae Solomon and Annie B. Lyles; and her son, Earnest Calvin Durham.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Charlie (Teresa) Durham, Patricia (Johnny) Mable, Evangelist Valerie Benn, and Ambra (Robert) Sanford, Sr. all of Americus, Georgia; two brothers: Bishop Ernest James (Ossie) Lundy of Leslie, Georgia and Overseer Johnny (Carol) Lundy of Americus, Georgia; seventeen grandchildren and forty great- grandchildren; a close friend whom she considered a sister, Mattie Sue Harris; two devoted grandchildren: Christopher Jones and Robert Sanford, Jr.; two devoted god-daughters: Barbara Burts and Beatrice Stewart; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
