The Memorial Service for Mr. John Glenn Wilson of Americus, Georgia will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. on the Front Lawn of West’s Mortuary, 731 North Lee Street, Americus, Georgia with Pastor Eugene Hall officiating.
John Glenn Wilson was born December 8, 1962, in DeSoto, Georgia to the late Bobbie Mae Deriso. He was educated in the public school system of Sumter County. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and later joined Jackson Grove Baptist Church in Sumter County.
At a young age, he developed a healthy work ethic and started his first job at Thad Wickerson’s Store in DeSoto. As he grew up, he advanced to Cooper Lighting where he worked for thirteen years. Later, he started his career at FedEx and Kroger while he resided in Memphis, Tennessee. He moved back to Georgia and retired from the Sumter County School System as a custodian in the year of 2016.
Mr. Wilson departed this world on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his three siblings: Bobbie Lou Deriso, Eddie Deriso, and Lamar Deriso; his aunt and uncles: Claude Deriso, Sr., Mary Alice Ware Brown, and McArthur Deriso; and his grandparents, Anna Harris Brown, Homer Deriso, and Lula Mae Brown Deriso.
He leaves a legacy of love and memories to his beloved family which includes his siblings: Willie Wilson (Thelma) of San Jose, California, Clarie Mae Green, Debbie Wilson, and Donald Ware, Jr. all of Americus, Georgia, Kenneth Holman of Memphis, Tennessee and Kent Morris Jackson of Marysville, California. Memories are also going to be cherished by some of his closest friends which include Bernice Williams, Teresa Brown Clark, Minnie Price, Mary Cross, Johnny White, Johnny Mathis, and Johnny Mack. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as other relatives that are going to cherish his legacy.
