Mr. Lucious "Granddaddy" Solomon

The Funeral Service for Mr. Lucious Solomon, Jr. of Oglethorpe, Georgia will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Ministries, 510 Morse Avenue, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at Champ Waters Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the safety of others.

Mr. Lucious Solomon, Jr. was born August 1, 1925, in Macon County, Georgia to the late Lucious Solomon, Sr. and the late Ella Bell Haugabook Solomon. He acquired his Christian training in various churches. Among those that he loved to attend were First Salem Baptist Church, Zion Grove Baptist Church, Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Magnolia Baptist Church and New Life Ministries. He was very active as he served on the Usher’s Ministry at various churches. He was a dedicated member of New Life Ministries, where he had the honor of being the oldest member of his church.

Lucious, affectionately known by many as “Granddaddy”, enjoyed attending the Riverview Senior Center. He had several hobbies. He loved to go fishing, go shopping, and spend time with his family. Granddaddy loved to dance. His family called him "The Dancing Machine". He retired from the City of Montezuma. Lucious Solomon, Jr. departed this earthly life for life eternal on April 4, 2022. He was preceded in death by his siblings: James Solomon, Curtis Solomon, J.W. Solomon, Willie Solomon, Ella Mae Solomon, Katherine Bryant and Lougene Solomon.

 

Precious memories will always remain with his loving family which includes his loving daughter, Mayoma Baldwin of Fort Valley, Georgia; a devoted granddaughter and caregiver for twenty-four years, Rosa Baldwin (Mike) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two loving granddaughters: Mary Ann Baldwin (Calvin) of Perry, Georgia and Carla Leggett (Darrel) of Montezuma, Georgia; one loving grandson, Adley Belvin of Warner Robins, Georgia; six great grandchildren: Darron, Sabrina, Quintavius, Marquel, Christian and Keontrae; seven great-great-grands: Landen, Marquel Jr., Kemarion, Samaura, Taylen, Karmez and Armahni; his beloved siblings: Coleman Solomon (Betty) of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Lottie Mae Solomon of Perry, Georgia, Jimmy Solomon, Sarah Barnes and Annie Margaret Solomon all of Homestead, Florida; a special niece, Louise Rucker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
