The Graveside Service for Mr. Eugene "Geno" Turner Sr. of Montezuma, Georgia will be conducted on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, 6425 Jalappa Road, Byromville, Georgia. Pastor Alvin Turner will officiate. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the safety of others.

Eugene “Geno” Turner Sr. was born on September 21, 1951, in Tampa, Florida to the late Roy Turner Sr. and Ozzie Ree Trice Turner. He acquired his education in the public school system of Macon County. He attended the historic D.F. Douglass High School and soon after joined the United States Army.  Eugene honorably retired from the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. “Geno” soon bought a semi-truck and became owner/operator of Turner Trucking, Inc. until he decided to retire from the trucking industry.  He was a dedicated and faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and member of the Finance Committee, under the leadership of Pastor Alvin Turner until his health failed.

Eugene passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Americus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Barbara Jean Turner-Daniels (Willie), his sister, Antoinette Rice (Jimmy), his brother, Anthony Turner, and his brother-in-law, Clarence Johnson.

Eugene leaves precious memories to be cherished by his sons: Xavier L. Turner (LyTrail) of Montezuma, Georgia and Eugene Turner Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina; his daughter, Ashley S. Witchard of Americus, Georgia; siblings: Cassandra Johnson, Roy Turner (Jackie), and Tommy Felton Sr. (Pearlie) all of Montezuma, Georgia; his loving and caring companion of over thirty years, Ms. Mae Cather Dawson of Americus, Georgia; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
