The Celebration of Life Service for The Honorable Lynmore James of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Macon County High School Gym, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at Bertha Dozier Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others.
Visitation for Representative Lynmore James will be Friday, November 5, 2021 from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 8620 GA Hwy 26E, Montezuma, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that you make donations to Tuskegee University in memory of Representative Lynmore James.
Lynmore James was the seventh child born to the late Will James and Hannah James Johnson on August 28, 1937 in Byromville, Georgia. He received his education at the historical Flint River Farms School in Montezuma, and at Tuskegee University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science in building construction. He was a farmer in Macon County and also worked in the quality control division of Ford Motor Company. Mr. James served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1992-2012. He served on a number of committees and subcommittees in the House, and was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and numerous community and civic organizations.
The Honorable Lynmore James, former State Representative for Georgia’s House District 135, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at his home. He was a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He never met a stranger, and he truly loved the people of the counties he served.
Lynmore leaves precious memories with his wife of forty-nine years, Faye Hardrick James of Montezuma, Georgia; their sons and their wives: Lynorris James and Lisa of Douglasville, Georgia, Mack Carlton James and Linda of Montezuma, Georgia and Jeffrey Bryant James and Sherry of Smyrna, Georgia; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law: Kaye Kirkland of Broxton, Georgia, Robbie Hardrick of Conyers, Georgia, Rebecca James of Milledgeville, Georgia and Willie James; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
