The Graveside Service for Ms. Mary Ellen Covington of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 A. M. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, 8620 GA Hwy 26 E, Montezuma, Georgia. Ms. Mary Ellen Loftly Covington, daughter of the late Mollie Kaigler Loftly and L. B. Loftly, Sr. was born on April 23, 1942, in Montezuma, Georgia. She grew up in Montezuma and attended the historic Flint River Farms School. As a young adult, she was employed at Southern Frozen Foods. Later she moved to Orlando, Florida then to Madison, Florida and worked various jobs before relocating to her hometown of Montezuma to be with family and friends.
Mary Ellen departed this life on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mollie Kaigler Loftly and L.B. Loftly; her son, Willie C. Loftly; and her brothers: Benjamin Loftly, L.B. Loftly, Jr. and Edward Loftly.
Precious memories will always remain with her loving family which includes her grandson, Ke'Andre Jarod Springer; her sisters: Burnell Story and Lounell Rackley (Leonard) of Montezuma, Georgia; her brother: Boisey Loftly (Bessie) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; a devoted friend, A.W. Joiner of Montezuma, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
