The Graveside Service for Ms. Mary Butler of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia. Because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines have limited the number of people that can attend services. Please practice social distancing and WEAR A MASK for your safety as well as the safety of others. 

Ms. Mary Louise Butler was born November 1, 1949 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Effie Butler and the late Willie Mae Cromer Butler. She departed this life on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Five brothers and a sister preceded her in death: Jeff, F.H., Frank,Ted, Charlie Ed and Linda. 

Mary attended the public school system of Macon County, whereas she was a student at D.F. Douglass High School. She was a dedicated member of Magnolia Baptist Church where she served as an usher and on the food committee. She was also a former member of the Macon County Branch NAACP and an active voice at City Council meetings. Mary was a hard worker. She was employed at Southern Frozen Foods, Macon County Board of Education, Macon County Sheriff's Office, Perry's Chicken and the Oaks Nursing Home, where she served as a cook.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory two devoted sons: Mr. Tony Lewis Butler, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Mr. Carlton Marquez Butler of Edgefield, South Carolina; eleven loving grandchildren: Simone, Toni, Chasity, Tony Jr., Marcus, Cullen, Tiekhia, Carltae, Timothy, Dezireyi and Kiara; two precious great-grandsons: Tyson and Tyler; three sisters: Mrs. Dorothy B. Engram of Montezuma, Georgia, Mrs. Mattie Ree Hobes (Willie) of Greensboro, Georgia and Mrs. Gail B. Walker (Robert) of Montezuma, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sue Butler of Pinehurst, Georgia; an aunt, Mrs. Reva Paisley of Jesup, Georgia; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving and dedicated special friends.
