The funeral service for Mrs. Ann Plant of Fort Valley, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at Richland Baptist Church, Hwy 341, Fort Valley, Georgia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Ann T. Plant was born on March 8, 1936 in Marshallville, Georgia to Charlie and Annie Claude Robertson Thornton. She attended Flint River Farms School in Montezuma, Georgia. In high school, she was an outstanding basketball player. She was a member of the Class C state basketball championship team in 1953. After high school, she furthered her education by attending Fort Valley State College for two years.

Throughout her childhood and early adult life, she was a member of Shade Arnold Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. After moving to Fort Valley, Georgia, Ann became a member of Zellner Chapel and later joined Richland Baptist Church. She was faithful, supportive and committed to serving the Lord.

She was united in holy matrimony to Hilliard Plant, Jr. for over sixty-four years. This union was blessed with two children, Angela and Gerry. Ann loved traveling, sewing and cooking. Most of her joy came from her desire to create new recipes. Her favorite recipes were cherry, Oreo cream, buttermilk, pecan and Kentucky Derby pies. In the 60’s she became a civilian employee of Robins Air Force Base. After being a dedicated employee for over twenty-four years, her career ended in medical retirement.

Ann truly loved her family. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at The Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia at the blessed age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and six sisters.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her devoted husband, Hilliard Plant, Jr.; her daughter, Angela P. Williams and her son, Gerry Plant (Valerie); two sisters: Helen Jordan and Claudia Louise Ashmon; four grandchildren: Tangela and Gerry Plant, Jr., Alisha and Lamar Williams II; two great grandchildren: Nemiah Plant and Kaleb Bottom; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
