The Funeral Service for Mother Mary Lee Marshall Thomas Rogers of Rochester, New York will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Shade Arnold Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mary Lee Marshall Thomas Rogers, daughter of the late Mark J. and Rosa Walters Marshall, was born February 10, 1943 in Macon County, Georgia. She attended Flint River Farms School. She loved to sing in the school chorus, and she was also a majorette because of her love for dance. Her passion, however, was serving people. She was always willing to go the extra mile to help someone.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of The Shade Arnold Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. She relocated to Rochester, New York in the late 1960s after her marriage to the late Johnnie Mose Thomas. She later married the late Willie Buck Rogers in 1985, which ended in divorce in 2003.

Between 1977 and 2005, Mary worked and achieved many accomplishments. Her work history included: General Motors – Delphi, housekeeper at Strong Memorial Hospital, Nursing Assistant at Monroe Community Hospital, Westgate Nursing Home and Brightonian Nursing Home. From 2002 to 2006, she served as an Outreach Volunteer Worker through the Missionary and Ministers Food Bank with the Drug and Alcohol Outreach Center. Mary was honored with a retirement celebration in July, 2005 at the Wishing Well.

Mary was also a faithful member of several churches in the Rochester area including: Friendship Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, The Adams Street Church of God by Faith, and most recently, The House of God. She was an individual who never met a stranger and could relate to anyone. Whenever you met her, no matter what the occasion, the conversation would quickly turn to focus on the goodness of the Lord and how much she appreciated the Lord’s presence in her life. With Mary, you could always find a listening ear, an encouraging word from the Scriptures, and a song to cheer you on your way.

Mother Mary L. Rogers went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2019. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Emmitt James (Cecila) Marshall of Stockbridge, Georgia; one daughter, Stephanie Elaine Thomas; one grandson, Steven Antwan (Juana) Marshall; one great-granddaughter, Sanaa Alyce Ajahea Marshall; one great-great-granddaughter, Zola Marshall all of Rochester, New York; two brothers: Deacon Charlie J. (Barbara Jean) Marshall of Montezuma, Georgia and Willie J. Marshall of Rochester, New York; two sisters, Betty J. (Roosevelt) Fields and Evangelist Barbara D.
