The Memorial Service for Mrs. Linda A. Zanders-Harley was held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at West’s Mortuary, 731 N. Lee Street, Americus, Georgia with Pastor Norbert Ingram officiating.
Linda A. Zanders-Harley, affectionately known as “Linan” was born July 24,1951 in Americus, Georgia to Edward J. Zanders, Sr. and Bertha M. Ingram-Zanders. Linda was baptized at Allen Chapel AME Church at an early age. She was a 1969 graduate of A.S. Staley High School.
After graduating from high school, Linda moved to Far Rockaway, New York. She later moved to Bronx, New York where she met and married Rufus Harley. She started working as a telephone operator and later became an Administrative Assistant at the New York Police Department. She went on to become a New York City Correctional Officer and retired in 1998.
Linda departed this life on February 20, 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha M. Mitchell and her step-father, Curtis Mitchell. Her brothers John Zanders and Edward Zanders, Jr. and her nephew Kirven Josey also preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are three sisters: Ordella Zanders-Westbrooks and Patricia Josey both of Americus, Georgia and Janet Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers: Curtis Mitchell, Jr., Rajean of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Carl Mitchell of New York, New York and Mark Mitchell of Washington; two sisters-in-law: Betty Zanders of Desoto, Georgia and Florida Zanders of Far Rockaway, New York; two aunts: Clara Ingram of Americus, Georgia and Juanita Ingram of Far Rockaway, New York; one caring and devoted nephew, Kelsey D. Westbrooks of Far Rockaway, New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
