Funeral services for Mr. Paul Roosevelt Josey, age 83, of Newark, New Jersey, will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of West’s Mortuary, 731 N. Lee Street in Americus, Georgia Burial will follow at the New Mount Mariah Baptist Church Cemetery located at 630 Mask Road, Americus, Georgia.
Mr. Paul R. Josey was born on January 21, 1935. He was the son of the late Reverend Johnny B. Josey, Sr., and the late Mrs. Ceola Josey of Americus. He joined Mount Mariah Baptist Church at an early age. Mr. Josey lived a full and productive life. He was born in Americus, Georgia, but lived in New Jersey for many years. He retired from Resistoflex Corp in Roseland, NJ. Mr. Josey departed this life on Friday, April 27, 2018 at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Frank, Marie, W.J., Sonny, Mary Berda, Gloverdean, Willie L. Josey, (all Americus, Georgia), Claude B. Josey, (Newark, New Jersey), and Rev. Johnny B. Josey, Jr. (Americus, Georgia)
Mr. Josey leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters: Melody Josey and Vanessa Josey of Americus, Georgia; six grandchildren: Candace, Nina, Alana, Keliliah, Ledelle and Xavier; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Berniese Weaver of Oglethorpe, Georgia; and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
