Funeral services for Mrs. Josie Mae Monts Bridges of Americus, Georgia will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Old Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. George F. Monts officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Josie Monts Bridges was born on March 4, 1954 to the late Edward and Emma Monts of Plains, GA. She was married to Franklin Bridges and this union was blessed with two boys. She was employed for several years as a Cab Driver and also as a custodian at Southland Academy. Josie died peacefully on Saturday January 6, 2018 at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, Georgia.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and life companion of 47 years, Mr. Franklin Bridges of Americus, GA; two sons: Earl (Marie) Monts of Jacksonville, FL; Eric (Cassandra) Monts Sr. of Americus, GA; one brother Edward (Linda) Monts of Plains, GA; three sisters: Oveda (Robert) Jackson of Americus, GA, Mae (Eugene) Dawson of Americus, GA and Earnestine (Albert) Durham of Americus, GA; six grandchildren: Antwan Davis of Mount Holly, NJ, Christopher Monts of East Orange, NJ, Erica Monts, Eric Monts, Evan Monts and Elijah Monts all of Americus,  GA; a devoted cousin Mattie Mae Tommie, a devoted friend Annie Ruth Mathis, several brothers and sisters-in-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside service for Mrs. Willa Collie will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Smithville, Georgia.

Mrs. Willa Collie was born in Perry Georgia on November 17, 1944 to the late Mrs.  Magnolia and Jimmie Lee Benefield. She was educated in the Lee County School System. Willa was called home to be with the Lord Jan. 6, 2018 in Port St. Lucie Florida.

She leaves to morn her passing one son, Mr. Anthony Collie, Port St. Lucie; three sisters: Cora Benefield, Port St. Lucie, Ossie Lockett and Mary Henderson of Leesburg, Georgia; four brothers: Louis Benefield, Albany Georgia, Jerome Taylor, Americus, Georgia, Bobby Taylor and Thomas Taylor Smithville, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Charles Henderson; four nieces, three nephews and several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tonia Alexa Seay-Josephina will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Harris officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain Creek A.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Tonia Alexa Seay-Josephina was born on September 26,  1971 in Americus, GA. Tonia gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined Mountain Creek A.M.E. Church where she remained faithful and dedicated even after she no longer resided in Americus. As a young girl, she traveled around the states and across the continent with her military parents, which included living in Germany for three years where she fluently learned to speak the German language. She attended Killeen High School in Killeen, Texas. She later attended DeVry University and GA State University. She worked for Ultimate Medical Academy as a Medical Coding Instructor for many years. Tonia had a passion for teaching. Through quality teaching, she was committed to providing her students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary for successful employment.

Tonia is preceded in death by the late Eddie Jerome Seay, Bural and Lizzie Pearl Wade, Leaston and Elnora Westbrook Cooper, Cassandra Lichelle Wade and Torrance Wade Cooper. Tonia died on Saturday January 6, 2018 at Southern Regional Medical Center in Atlanta, GA.

Tonia leaves precious memories to her loving parents Retired Army Sgt. Tony Sr. & Dr. Amanda Wade Cooper, Americus, GA: her four children: Tierra Maddox, Atlanta, GA; Dejairus Walton, Columbus, GA; Jazzy Seay and Mikyla Amanda Josephina, Atlanta, GA; her siblings: Tony Jr. (Latoya) Columbus, GA; Terrill (Shakema), Byron, GA; Dexter (Keisha), Americus, GA; Oran Seay, New Jersey, and Shay (Donald) Wright Atlanta, GA; three precious grandchildren: Briceson, Brayden and Kaleb Walton; she will always have a special place in the hearts of her aunts and uncles: A devoted aunt & uncle Retired Army Sgt. Funeral services for Lee Morris “Lee Lee” Miller of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 at Zion Grove Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Coley Clark, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Lee Morris Miller was born to the late Marvin C. Miller and Dollie Mae Mangram Miller in Cook County, Illinois on January 21, 1961. He was educated in the Macon County public school system and was employed at Southern Frozen Foods for a number of years. Lee was married to Ms. Patricia Lockett and to this union two lovely daughters were born.

“Lee Lee” had a kind spirit and a contagious smile. He was a good neighbor who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Lee passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his residence. He will be truly missed by his neighbors and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings: Barbara Jean Miller, Darrell Miller and Marvin Miller.

Precious memories of his life will always remain with his loving family which includes his daughters: Sabrina Miller and Jasmine Miller of Fort Valley, Georgia; three grandchildren: Daniel Stripling, Danaysia Stripling and Zamari Hill; his companion, Lillie Mae Green; his siblings: Roy Miller, Morris Miller, Denise Miller, Cynthia Green and Sandra Green; devoted nieces and nephews; Jasmine Miller, Jashaya Miller and Martin Green; his aunt, Mozell Denise Mangram; a host of other relatives and friends including devoted friends: Ernestine Chatfield, Vanessa Fudge, Peggy Fudge, Ronnie Stafford, Lazenksy Oliver, Derek Kaigler, Melinda Green, Jermaine Jackson and James Fudge.

 Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Trice of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 at Upper Room Holiness Church, 1637 GA Hwy 90 W, Oglethorpe, Georgia with Elder Michael Burden officiating.

Oscar Trice was born on April 2, 1949 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Mattie Cromer West and the late Green Trice. He was educated in the public schools of Macon County and was a graduate of D.F. Douglass High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. He received an Honorable Discharge on January 30, 1977.

Oscar was a compassionate man who loved his family dearly. He was a devoted caregiver to his brother Jim Trice and sister Elois West. On Saturday, December 23, 2017, Oscar Trice departed this earthly life for sweet eternity with His Heavenly Father. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Sammy Lee West, Buster James West and Elois West.

Precious memories will always remain with his loving family which includes his brothers: John (Ida) Bogan and Jim Trice of Montezuma, Georgia and G.L. (Dorothy) Trice of Bowling Green, Florida; his Godson, Anthony Worthy, Jr.; a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Ms. Deborah Ann Denise Gordon Wallace of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Friendship Baptist Church, Americus, Georgia. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

Deborah Ann Gordon Wallace was born on February 10, 1960 to the late Louise Gordon and Norman Gordon. She was educated in the Americus City School System and was employed at Mental Flint Breezeway. She enjoyed reading, doing arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends. Our Father called our beloved Deborah Ann home on December 16, 2017.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Antonio Moran Gordon; three sisters: Gwendolyn Josey, Sarah Elizabeth Gordon and Vanessa Butts; two brothers: Kenneth Lee Gordon and Ulysses Butts; and one grandson, Tavis Jones, Jr.

Precious memories of her life will forever live on in the hearts of her six children, which include her beloved daughter, Kimothy (James) Wallace, five sons: Jamie (Tosha) Wallace, Timothy (Connie) Wallace, Jonas (Tiannia) Wallace, Julius (Jaquitta) Wallace and Johnathon (Jabra) Wallace; her grandmother, Rosa Bell Anthony; her sisters and brothers that loved her dearly: The baby girl, Evette (Dwight) Christmas of Marietta, Georgia, Craig (Lisa) Gordon of Smyrna, Georgia, Tyrone Gordon of Jacksonville, Florida, Larry Gordon, Tyrone Thompson, Herman (Rhonda) Stephens, Charlie Foster and Robenna Robinson of Americus, Georgia, Edgar (Eula) Butts and Rufus (Christina) Thompson of Marietta, Georgia; twenty-six grandchildren, five devoted grandchildren: Demarcus Wallace, Ny’aisa Wallace, Ja’kayla and Jekyhla Berry and Ty’aisha Jones;  a devoted niece, Janice Tucker Floyd; two devoted great nephews: Jamarius Bullard and De’vonte’ Tucker; two  devoted friends: Stella Jackson and Duane Welborn, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Ms. Jacqueline Fay Floyd of Columbus, Georgia formerly of Americus, Georgia will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 2:00 P.M at the New Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. W.G. Grover officiating.

Jacqueline Floyd was born on November 15, 1965 in Americus, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Andrew Lee Floyd, and the late Mrs. Viola Jordan Floyd, She was educated in the Sumter County Public School System.  One of her favorite things to do was listen to music. In addition to being a great mother and sister, she was also a hard working lady that loved taking care of others. Jacquelin passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the home of her sister. She was proceeded in death two sisters: Shirley Floyd and Wanda Floyd, and one brother Andrew Floyd Jr.

She is survived by two sons: Author James Jones Jr., Jacor Floyd both of Columbus Georgia; one sister, Pamela Floyd of Americus, Georgia, one brother, Lonie (Tierra) Floyd of Americus, Georgia; five uncles, three aunts and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including, Vickie Floyd, Ms. Snoopy and Lois Floyd all of Columbus, Georgia

The Funeral Service for Mr. Roosevelt James of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in  Montezuma Georgia. Mr. Roosevelt James was the former chairman of The Macon County Commissioners. He made his transition on December 1, 2017 at The Perry Hospital.

Mr. James is survived by his wife, Rebecca James; his children: Ronney (Mary) James, Dennis (Regina) James, Anita James Pettiford, Sandra James Jordan, Lucinda J. (Walter) Jolly, Brenda J. (Mack) Brannon, Melvin (Oscilla) Adams, Phyllis (Ronnie) Collins, Mary Ann Adams and Beverly (Alexander) Ellis; his brothers: Elmo James, Leroy (Shirley) James and Lynmore (Faye) James; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Mr. James Butts of Americus, Georgia will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2:30 at the Eastview Cemetery.

Mr. James Edward Butts affectionately known as “Hoof” was born on March 30, 1951 to the late Edgar Butts Sr. and the late Mrs. Eunice Lee Floyd Butts. James was educated in Public School system of Sumter County.  He joined the Perry Grove Baptist Church at an early age working on the Usher Board.   He loved to play spade.  He worked at Sheffield Hardware, Davidson Rubber Co., and Austin Urethane and Glover.  He enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews giving them neck and back rides.

James died peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Emory St Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Edgars Jr., Ulysses and Jennilee Butts and one sister, Bernice Butts.

James leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter Daphney Hollis; four sisters: Mildred Sneed, Smithville GA, Janice R. Butts, Bobbie Wise and Thelma & Freddie Evans all of Americus, GA; two brothers: Eddie Butts of Americus, GA and Wilbert Butts of Atlanta, GA; two devoted nieces: Gail Peeples and Tonya Walker; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Odena Jackson of West, Palm Beach FL;  three grandsons, a host of nieces, nephews and friends including Sarah Smith, Miller & Jean Rush, Eula and James Merritt and Willie Walker.
