King Pollard was born on January 6, 1954, in Americus, Georgia.  He was the oldest son of Johnny and Louise Pollard, who preceded him in death.  King passed away in Seattle, Washington, on March 29, 2025.

Left to cherish his memory is a multitude of loving family and friends: his wife, Christina Pollard, of Port Angeles, Washington; his children Avias Pollard, Kylie Pollard, and Julien Pollard, all of Tacoma, Washington.  He had one grandson, Noah Lono’uhane Pollard, born January 23, 2025.  He also leaves behind eight siblings: Betty White, Willie Mae Phillips, John Edward Pollard, John Thomas Pollard, Bobbie Vanover, Emma Bryant, Mary Pollard, and Ronald Pollard, plus many beloved nieces and nephews.

King was a superb athlete, a loyal friend, a well-loved, popular man who was committed to caring for people and making them happy.  A graduate of Lumpkin High School, he attended Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia, before signing with the Cincinnati Reds in the mid-1970’s.  Although an injury sidelined him, he went on to a fine career in the U.S. Army, where he served in Criminal Intelligence and was a veteran of Desert Storm.  After retiring with honors, he had a second career in Health Information Technology and earned degrees from Mid-America Christian University and Tacoma Community College.  He made his home in the State of Washington, where he raised his children and met his wife.  King loved to dance, listen to music, make friends, grill BBQ ribs, coach baseball, and follow the Mariners, Reds, and Braves as well as the Seahawks and Falcons.  He had a quick, beautiful smile and made friends easily.  He will always live in our hearts.
